I think they eat hamburgers in "Countrycide" and another episode.
I remembered the Countrycide, but not another time. Thanks.
I vaguely remember discussions that one of them (or both) became vegetarian after Countrycide after the meat=people experience, but I wasn't sure if it was fanon or canon.

Excellent, thanks. I'd hate to write them going out for dinner and have what they order be totally against canon.
I just posted your question on torch wood under my name. It should post there after it leaves moderation.
You are SO much braver than I. Thanks. I'll keep an eye out for it.
I wasn't involved in fandom at all back then, so all I know is the canon, and I have zero recollection of anything on the series about either of them becoming vegetarians. I bet it was just fandom discussion. (It makes sense! But I think you'd be safe having them order meat.)
excellent, thanks! I wanted Jack to take them out to a certain restaurant (for a type of food they wouldn't normally be able to get in Wales) but they could only go if they ate meat.
I really don't remember anything like that at all. Heh--was it them taking the meat off the pizza in "Meat"? Which would imply that they'd intended to eat it until they found out that the alien meat had gotten into the food supply. *g*
I vaguely remember discussions about Ianto declaring himself a vegetarian after Countrycide, but I was pretty sure it was fanon, not canon. But before I wrote a whole long paragraph about what to eat for dinner I figured I should make sure
Eh, even if he declared himself a vegetarian after Countricide, there's nothing to say he didn't start eating meat again two weeks later.
good point.
Mostly I just wanted Jack to be able to make a (lame) knockwurst joke without it being too horribly out of context.

Hee! I think Jack could make a lame knockwurst joke without context, really.
true, but if they were going to eat at a kosher delicatessen then I could rattle off more odd foods for him to be excited about.
That'll be nice, but either way, I might just write it in.
I've been trying to scroll through the posts with the 'lite' tag there, but there are just SO many about the recent episodes.

I think you'd be fine just writing it. People never call me on the stuff I think they're going to call me on. It's always something I never considered. *g*
The UK website for the first season contained an IM conversation between Tosh and Ianto following Countrycide. Both of them decided (or implied), in this conversation, to go vegetarian for awhile. I don't know whether they still are at this point in the show, but I know they were at some point (and I can't imagine they'd want to eat meat after Meat).
Furthermore, I'm a dork for actually knowing all this.

That's what I was remembering, yes it's implied, but by no means certain.
Someone put up the IM conversation here:

I love that conversation. The Tosh and Ianto friendship dynamic is one thing I'm really glad they're showing a bit more of this season.
I think though I'm safe if I write Jack talking about taking Tosh and Ianto to a restaurant that they'd only be able to get meat dishes at
Probably. I'm intrigued, now.
someone put the IM put there that implied they were thinking about not eating meat- that's what I was remembering. But they never outright SAY they're never going to eat meat again, so I think I am safe. Thanks!
