The Stray

Title: The Stray
Pairing/Rating/Warning: No pairing, warning, or spoilers, rated G
Word Count: 100
Summary:  Tosh wants the team to adopt a kitten.

Tosh spotted the kitten, a bundle of fur shivering in the rain, half-hidden by some brush.  With a little coaxing, and the judicious use of a tuna sandwich scrounged from a nearby shop, she convinced him to come out and curl up in the jacket Owen begrudgingly provided.

Clutching the rumbling form she pleaded, “Can we keep him?”

Jack looked at the others.   The doctor who had aimlessly wandered from job to job, the assistant shattered by Canary Wharf, the cop that stumbled on them on her own....  All had found a home here.

Jack smiled.  “What’s one more stray?”

Jack is the ultimate stray, isn't he?

In my mind Myfanwy would want to mother the kitten. Who doesn't want to snuggle a cute little cat, right?

Other predators? But I know! It's hard to imagine not wanting to cuddle a little kitty. And if Myfanwy has spent the past two years laying infertile eggs, she might be getting a little biological-clock crazy by now, so as long as the kitten doesn't get into the barbecue sauce... awww. :)

oh now that is the cutest icon!

Couldn't you just picture the cat curled up on the table next to jack and Jack absentmindedly petting it while telling the team about a case?

Eee. Yes, completely.

Now I really, really want the Hub to have a cat. Having Ianto padding around silently about his duties doesn't count. (Though I'd like to Jack absentmindedly petting him, too. *g*)

lol! A lot of people say Jack's more of a dog person (due to his commitment to the Doctor) but I think cats work better for his transient lifestyle

I agree, definitely. Besides, just because someone has a [insert pet]-like personality doesn't mean they'd be suited to or even want to have that animal as a pet. I have a more cat-like personality, and while I live with a cat right now, dogs have always been my most ideal pet. It can be a good balance.

But you know, now I'm thinking that, yes, Jack can be very exuberant and loyal, but he's also (mostly on Torchwood, as the team leader) quite aloof, keeps himself to himself. A bit cat-like, too, Jack.

you're right- Jack is very cat like- you never know exactly what he's thinking, and he gets that 'i know more than you do' smile that cats have frequently
