Stagnation

Title: Stagnation
Pairing/Rating/Warning: No pairing, warning, spoilers for "Utopia", rated G
Word Count: 100
Summary: Jack can't see his scars.

Eventually, it began to bother Jack, after Platform One, after Ellis Island and that shot through the heart that should have ended it all but didn’t.  Not that he couldn’t die,  that was odd and unsettling, but useful.  No, what was disturbing was that injuries that should have killed him left no mark.  There should be scars, something that screamed to the world that damage had been done.  Pain had been endured.  Healing had occurred.   If he remained unscathed, did that mean it never happened?  It didn’t matter?  That he couldn’t go forward since he couldn’t see where he’d been?

Oh. Very interesting and moving take on Jack's condition. Good job.

::hugs Jack::

interesting and moving=depressing, though. thanks!

I like to think of it as "pathos." :) Jack has plenty of that. It's fine to write about it!

Pathos, yes. (which is different than Porthos, which I typed first) I like angsty Jack. Poor boy, it's fun to abuse him so.

Excellent. Really impressive.

thank you!

There really *really* should and I like your conclusion too...

beta moment - you've missed a 'he' - Not that HE couldn’t die

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 02:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! And thanks for the beta. I fixed it, although I had to play with the word count as a result (stupid drabbles)

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 02:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I had to play with the word count
Sorry about that *smooch*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
*g* that's half the fun with drabbles though- The challenge! The creative use of contractions! The bashing your head against the wall!

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 02:59 pm (UTC)(link)
De nada - Drabble related injuries are a common occurrance in my experience.

I actually really like working within the drabble or double drabble frame. It forces focus and a tighter story *babbles*

*sings the alto line to your babble*
*pets you*

You know I asked you about what widgets you ran to do that? And you gave me advice? I never did anything about it and now I can;t find where we were talking about it :S

Could you be a darling and chuck the information into a comment to me again at some point when you have time? I promise I shall bookmark it properly this time *smooches*

*goes to turn out chocolate cake*

If you use firefox it is easy. Go here (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/491) and download the BBCodeXtra extention. Another good extension is LJaddons (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/4536)

*Nods* that must be weird, to know you've died but see no physical proof of it. Must be disconcerting.

Excellent, as ever.

:) thanks

Oh yes. I covered this idea briefly in my Worth the Wait ficlet and it's nice to see someone else give it attention too. It's definitely something that would bother me, if I was Jack.

Poor Jack.

I hadn't remembered that, I guess it just goes to show that brilliant minds think alike!

Oh, Jack. I love that.

He is scarred, they're just not visible.

Present!
