Duolingo's 'year in review' thing came out (it's actually 11 months in review since it's Jan 1-Nov 30 which kind of bugs me, why not just release it in early January instead and have it be a *real* year in review?) and apparently I was in the top .1% of learners overall and top 1% of Chinese learners. I'm curious how my stats will change with the new path system since I kind of hate it and have only been doing enough to keep my streak and stay in diamond league where before I was pretty much regularly doing at least 30 minutes a day, if not more. Oh well.
The flu-that-ate-November is still lingering but I got my yuletide assignment posted. With any luck I'll still manage a treat or two, my average yt output is not going to happen but oh well. Due to flu I also haven't done any crafting since finishing that rug the very beginning of November. Sigh.
I've got a lot of links to add to my resource posts and maybe need to completely rearrange them (pulling out a bunch of the stuff on the random and maybe some from the hollywood/historical and starting a new post with it? IDK) because some are getting far too long. That isn't going to happen until a)dreamwidth stops with its random 503 errors it keeps spitting up and b)I have a working brain.

Yunmeng Shuangjie Reconciliation Speedrun, Any %, No Yanlis, 8.5k by Mikkeneko (8.5k)
Summary: Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng's relationship has been strained since the confrontation at Guanyin Temple. It is a rift that might take years to heal, if it ever does. That is, unless some unscrupulous persons decide to meddle... (a plan to get WWX out of Jin Ling's life goes awry, a delightful read)

Summary: In his recent article in Contemporary Theories of Cultivation, Lan (2019) sets out to study the correlation between instrument choice and outcomes in the liberation of spirits. While his main thesis appears sound, his decision to limit the study to the qin, dizi, xiao and pipa undermines his conclusions. This decision falls prey to the fallacy that tradition cannot be questioned. It ignores, too, the fact that many practising cultivators will encounter spirits that will have no exposure to such “expectations.” In a small study comparing the use of a dizi with a theremin—undoubtedly a non-traditional choice—the theremin produced optimal outcomes in liberating spirits where: time since death was less than 6 months; spirit was younger than 25 and older than 17 at time of death; or spirit motivation included aspects of revenge. Sploot - Sploot is slang for the pose an animal, especially dogs, cats, and other four-legged pets, makes when it lies on its stomach with its hind legs stretched out back and flat. Xiao Yan should have left a letter behind bequeathing his favorite horse to his favorite younger brother. Prince Ting would probably be sad when Consort Jing and their father (the Emperor) killed Xiao Yan once they found out that he had not only snuck out of the palace but out of the whole entire city, with Princess Mu no less. That Lin Shu was to blame would not count for much. It never did. He hoped his horse would remember him fondly. (absolutely delightful kid adventures of Lin Shu, Jingyan, Nihuang and a dragon)
All the Distant Stars - In his heart of hearts, Jingyan knows something remains at Meiling. A ghost, a secret – he can’t say for sure. But whatever it is, he won’t abandon it. And one day, when they’ve gathered up whatever fragments of information have been scattered around the rest of the galaxy, he’ll find out whether the rumours that Jiangzuo ships can travel anywhere are true. (absolutely excellent space AU)
