Glad I'm not the only one, then.

and if they don't cancel it they 're-imagine' it for S2 and it destroy it.

I was glad Dark Angel got a second season, but *grimace* it did not measure up at all to S1

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Dark Angel, Lost, ALIAS (which just got worse and worse they longer they kept it), Heroes...half the time, anymore, I almost hope they won't renew the really awesome stuff, because I know they're gonna mess it up.

I loved S1 of Lost.. didn't like for S2 and gave up. Heroes I haven't really gotten into this year, it's not that I dislike it, it's more that I don't care. It's bad though when a show you love is cancelled after only 8 or 10 episodes or whatever, but I'm not sure which is worse

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 08:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I couldn't get enough of the first season of Lost, but then I gave up after a couple episodes of S2. Heroes isn't horrible this season, but it's certainly not up to the first season, and they only showed, like, half a season. I really don't like when they just don't give a show a chance and just end it after a few episodes.

There's probably 10 or so shows in the past few years that I loved and they died before or right after Nov sweeps. *sigh*

the thing that also confuses me with TV these days is the way something will air for 8 weeks or so and then disappear for 10 weeks, then air for a month, disappear again and then come back for the finale. I never remember to watch it when its jerked around like that

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I despise sweeps.

Yeah, they seem to be doing that a lot more, lately.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Nov, Feb and May- it's great because there will be new episodes, but bad because it's all about the explosions and twists and random crap. Of course, assuming your show airs and isn't replaced by specials or whatnot

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Exactly. They shove all this stuff into the shows and tend to forget about the plot.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
which bugs the crap out of me. NCIS did that for Nov sweeps, just ignored common sense for the "drama"

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
usually that's when the big reveals are, but it's also when they fuck up canon

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
or fuck up biology or basic physics or whatnot ("Requiem" really annoyed me for that)

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Who needs science during sweeps?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-16 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
*pshaw* what's a little canon among friends?

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
I feel that's been said once or twice in a TV network boardroom.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Sometimes I think it's just ignorance on their part. That they honestly forgot they said it took 24 hours for the TARDIS to refuel and that's why it only takes 20 seconds now

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 03:31 am (UTC)(link)
You have a point. I think they just don't realize how much the rest of us notice.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-17 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
which, especially for a show like DW, is mind boggling.
