NCIS season finale

I could say I cared, but I'd be lying.

So... Jenny's dead.  Vance is the new director.  Franks stole random dead agent's "insurance policy."  Ziva's fired (well the liaison position is terminate) McGee's reassigned to cyber-crimes, Tony's sent to the USS Ronald Reagan and Gibbs gets a new team.   Oooh.  Don't care.  Sigh

Which one is Ducky?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 02:15 am (UTC)(link)
Ducky (the ME) and Abby (the Goth lab genius) weren't in the last scene so presumedly they still have their jobs at NCIS HQ

[identity profile] kensieg.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 02:23 am (UTC)(link)
oh! which one is Ziva then? Did you read the ficlet where Jack ends up in Ducky's morgue?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Ziva (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ziva_David) is the Israeli, she replaced Kate when Kate was killed off the end of S2.

Do you mean the ficlet, The Autopsy Table (http://donutsweeper.livejournal.com/61187.html)? :) I wrote that one

[identity profile] kensieg.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. I had a feeling you wrote it.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 03:51 am (UTC)(link)
Jack fits nicely in NCIS. Then again, he fits most places nicely!

[identity profile] thaddeusfavour.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Really, it was a very slow and boring episode. It crawled slug-like across the screen until the end. Jenny's dead, so? Vance is annoying, but they always are when they first take the Director's position.

I admit, I am curious to find out how they're going to get the team back together, but after such a slow episode, I do find it hard to care.

At least it didn't depress the hell out of me like yesterdays episodes of Bones and House. They annoyed me too. Didn't like them at all.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
how yeah- House especially was depressing as hell.

Oddly, I'd have liked this episode a lot more if there wasn't that final scene in Vance's office. So he's mysterious and shreds something in his own file. oooh. Then scatters the team to the wind. Big whoop. I doubt anyone out there in fandomland believes the team will NOT be back together after a few episodes.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
The House finale was depressing as hell. It reminded me a lot of Donnie Darko, except a bit backwards.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
It was vaguely humorous to watch the fandom slowly explode and attack itself as the House season finale played out... but damn, I really didn't want it to end that way

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 09:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It's usually somewhat humorous to sit back and watch fandoms explode. I haven't even really been watching House this season, but that was an amazing and thoroughly depressing finale.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I've only vaguely watched the series in general. But the last handful of episodes (the last few before the strike and the three since) were amazing. and damn the finale was depressing. She's dead, and the friendship between H&W is all messed up

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I really liked House's little exchange with her before he woke up, when he kept saying he didn't want Wilson to hate him.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
oh god yes, because he was (for all intensive purposes) arguing with himself) That whole exchange was made of all kinds of win

holy cow- the end montage *big sigh*

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
The end montage is really what made me think of Donnie Darko. Seriously, the whole two part episode was totally Darko-esque, except the person who wanted to live is the one who died.

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
So Tony's still alive. And he'll be back. He'll be back, right? He has to be! *clings to Tony*

... At least this means I can continue watching the show.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 11:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. Still alive.

The first hour of the show was fine, if a bit boring and predictable. But the second hour was just lame, boring and annoying (I don't care about Franks or Vance) but i guess Tim, Tony and Ziva showed Vance (the new director) that they answered to Gibbs, not him.

the last scene was just annoying- because we all know the team will be back together within a few weeks... November sweeps on the outside, so what is the point of the random, fake tension of splitting them up?

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 11:27 am (UTC)(link)
I can live with anything as long as Tony's still alive and around. And he'll be back. Right? Right.

So it's all good in my world. Yay!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
I assume he'll be back. I assume they all will.

It's just that it's a lame, tired plot device- sending them all away. It's suppose to create tension and the "ooh- who will Gibbs' new team be and what will happen to the others?" and I just can't care. If they'd only sent away one person I'd wonder if they'd be returning, but all three?

I'm just disappointed. I wanted to be on the edge of my seat awaiting next season and I'm not.

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
Me? I'm just relieved Tony is all right. I don't particularly care about the rest-- but then, it's an entirely different situation for me. I don't ever get to see anything in time, so having to wait for the next season isn't exactly different from waiting for the next episode.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 11:33 am (UTC)(link)
oh, I'm thrilled they didn't kill him off. But I never liked Jenny and this whole finale felt contrived.

Basically, I'm just let down by the whole thing, does that make sense?

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 11:35 am (UTC)(link)
That makes perfect sense! I guess I just didn't have any expectations so I'm not disappointed at all :D

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 11:40 am (UTC)(link)
see, when it comes to TV I'm not the best fan, I'll admit that. It's rare for me to keep watching a show week in and week out, year after year. These sort of forced tension plot devices just annoy me

I was possibly over-pleased at the Tony angst.

For me NCIS has never been that big of an emotional investment anyway, so I'm happy to just sort of nod my head along with the music, so to speak.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-05-21 06:04 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods* the Tony-angst was great, the poor boy was beside himself for failing to protect the director.

I want NCIS to be a big emotional investment, it just always falls short
