The Dare

Title: The Dare
Pairing/Warning/Rating: None, rated G
Word Count: 100
Summary:  Sometimes doing something you were dared to does not go well, as Jack finds out.
Author's Note: Written for [personal profile] unfeathered

Owen stared at Jack. “I dare you to eat it.”

“You dare him? What are you, twelve? Gwen, come here and talk some sense into these two!”

“Leave her out of this,” Owen hissed, watching Jack poke at what was in front of him. “This is between me and Jack. He’s the one who swore he’d eat anything.”

“But Owen, it came through the rift!”

“I scanned it! It’s clean.”

“But...” Tosh’s protests were drowned out by a wrapper crinkling.

After a moment’s chewing Jack smiled. “Prawn cocktail flavored rift Quavers. Yummmm”

“If they’re so good you should swallow.”

“No.”

Anything with the flavor of a crustacean...just, no.

there was some comedian I heard once talking about Clamato juice. And how does someone drink something and then think to themselves, "this is good, but it's missing something. I know- needs shellfish"

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously. If it's not in it's natural shell, it shouldn't taste like shellfish.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 04:35 pm (UTC)(link)
obviously others beg to differ, or clamato juice and prawn flavored whatnots wouldn't exist

I never did get why people like shellfish so much to begin...but, then, I'm a sucker for some good lobster, so I can't really say much.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 04:54 pm (UTC)(link)
never had lobster. I don't have seafood much in general

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 04:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Lobster and crab are about the only thing in a shell I can really stand. I've always lived in Washington, so I've always eaten seafood. We used to go clamming, back in the day. I think I was, like, 5.

I loved fried clams as a kid, haven't had them lately though. NY has good seafood, MN, not so much

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 05:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Frying can save pretty much any type of seafood. I can see how MN wouldn't have that great of seafood.

there's some decent freshwater stuff. But I'm a burgers and fries sort of girl for the most part

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 05:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Which is completely understandable.

Everyone should be a coffee and donut person.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
amen to that! *uses appropriate icon*

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I mean, how do people survive without either of them?

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
If nothing else, I'd go insane without them. Er, more insane.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-24 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Or, at least, be very, very grumpy

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 09:15 am (UTC)(link)
I was actually out of coffee in the house yesterday. Husbands should not be allowed to use the last of the coffee and not buy more

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 09:17 am (UTC)(link)
The tragedy! No, no they should not.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 09:21 am (UTC)(link)
evil, evil, man. I finished off the cookies to get even.

But I have coffee now- stopped on my way to work at a little coffee shop that'll give you a free cup of regular coffee when you buy a pound. So I got coffee to drink then AND to make for later. I was happy

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-06-25 09:24 am (UTC)(link)
LOL...good retaliation.

Ooo, I like when that happens.

I like that shop- and they have a rewards card thing so when you buy $40 of stuff you get a coupon for a free drink- whatever kind you want. (I semi-cheat because I got several GCs as birthday presents so I don't even have to pay for the original spending on the rewards card)
