The Fine Art Of Negotiation

Title: The Fine Art Of Negotiation
Pairing/Warning/Rating: NCIS fandom, no pairings, rated G
Word Count: 200
Summary:  When the stakes were high, Tony relied on his negotiation skills.
Author's Note:  Written for the [profile] ncisdrabble100 challenge: alibi

The final negotiations were finished seconds before the elevator arrived on the main floor.  Two caf-pows every day for the next three weeks, a box of chocolates, and a home-made dinner where he would make his secret family recipe for pasta sauce.

“We got a case, Boss?” Tony asked, since Gibbs had been waiting for the elevator.

“Going for coffee,” he muttered as he brushed past Abby and Tony as they exited.  He paused, eying them suspiciously.  “Where have you two been?”

“My lab,” Abby replied.  “What’s up, Bossman?”

“Both of you?  For how long?”

Tony and Abby refrained from looking at one another as she answered, “most of the morning.  Tony was helping me...”  Gibbs didn’t wait to hear what they had been up to, instead he merely grunted and let the doors slide shut.

Abby turned to face her compatriot.  “Tony, what did you do?”

He didn’t quite meet her gaze as he replied, “I knocked over Gibbs’ coffee.”

She punched his arm.  “His coffee?  What were you thinking?”

“It was an accident, Abs.”  He gave her a quick peck on the cheek.  “Thanks for the alibi.”

Abby pouted.  “I knew I should’ve held out for a whole month!”

which pissed me off. He was on assignment. He had orders. Grow up people!

Orders from the director, nevertheless.

but, they still felt it necessary to treat him like crap. They do that a lot. Annoys me to no end

I sort of hope they do a bit less of that in the sixth season.

I have very low expectations for S6, especially since S5 ended the way it did

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, same here.

You know, I don't see the 08-09 TV season going very well for either of us.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-07 04:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Nope. But at least there will still be fanfic. And plenty of shoulders to cry on

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 02:35 pm (UTC)(link)
thank heaven for all of that. But it's unfortunate that sometimes even the fanfic needs the booze

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes it is. Although...it's kind of entertaining with the booze.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
or if you go at it for the unintended humor value. Like that horrific AU I showed you a bit back

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Heh.

Oh, crap. I just got this horrible idea involving bad fic and a drinking game...

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
DON'T. You'll get alcohol poisoning. (that one was updated btw. I can't decide if it's gotten worse or not)

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I'd probably manage to injure myself just drinking water for that particular drinking game. (Heaven help us.)

There are some REALLY prolific authors out there that just *suck* bad characterization, bad plots, bad dialogue. Yet they get good comments and keep writing. *shudder*

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Obviously, we need to hunt down these people with bad taste and prevent them from ever commenting again.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
haven't you ever seen that though, and you're thinking, am I even reading the same thing they are?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
but that goes back to the requests on the ficfinder comms and the wince I have when I see what people are actually asking for

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 06:43 pm (UTC)(link)
it boggles the mind sometimes. People actually want to read OOC mpreg crap

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
a LOT of the stuff requested on [livejournal.com profile] twstoryfinder I have no interest in whatsoever
