On Writing and the DVD Commentary Challenge

So,  I've joined the bandwagon and thrown my hat in the DVD Commentary Challenge, I'd be thrilled if someone did a story of mine for it.   I *may* also do a commentary, if I can think of anything intelligent to say.

Also- I'm rapidly approaching my 200th fic, and I'm not sure if I should try to do anything special for it.  Ideas?  Anyone?

Well, yes, I mean I'd hope my beta-y comments were helpful...

I think I'm moving even further towards the 'very much like a public beta' argument here, aren't I? I suppose the thing is, really, that the fic's already been beta'd so apart from the odd tiny thing, what there is to say about it should be mainly squee anyway!

and everybody likes a bit of squee!

Absolutely. :-)

Oh dear, that makes my reasons for wanting people to do commentaries on my fics sound very shallow now!

not at all1 because it NOT just squee it is also about structure and characterization and flow and most importantly, how others see your work!

*hugs you*

I just. I just remember how amazingly cool it was getting my first beta back from Jades last year on Connection - seeing someone specifically telling me what worked and what didn't, and what they liked and what they found hot and. That's just so, so wonderful to get.

And the way people find things in your writing that you just didn't know were there. I know that happens with me a lot anyway, just from the comments I get to my fics, because I'm such an instintive writer I don't know what's there myself until someone else points it out.

... Am I persuading you to have a go at a commentary yet? *g*

yes, yes, you are. It's the deciding which one that's hard. so many good fic, so little time!
