Summary:  Gibbs takes advantage of an opportunity to study DiNozzo.

The car was cold, but Gibbs couldn’t turn on the heater without giving away their position and ruining the stakeout.  Not there had been much to see, the house was as empty now as it had been when he and Tony relieved McGee and Ziva six hours ago.

After awhile Gibbs ordered Tony to grab some shut eye, claiming it was a defensive measure.  “You’re a menace when you’ve got nothing to do, DiNozzo,” he’d said.  “Shut up and get some sleep.”  Tony had protested, but eventually capitulated under the agreement that he’d be woken in an hour so Gibbs could rest himself.

Gibbs had no intention of doing that; he had enough coffee to see him through to dawn, but he wasn’t about to admit it to Tony.  He welcomed the chance to study Tony like this, with his defenses down and not hiding behind whatever front he thought people wanted to see.  There was no frat boy grin.  No jokes or crass comments.  Just Tony, nothing else.  A strong profile, head resting against the window, mouth open just a bit, relaxed, serene.

Times like this were rare, and Gibbs was going to relish every opportunity that presented itself.

I'm not big on research, but sometimes, you gotta do it and it's not like it isn't fun. And yeah, I also looked up his hotel and checked the distance to the NCIS Field Office in Rota. Hah!

Yeah, definitely! I only got a bit more to write, anyway (well. A bit, as in, 5.000 to 9.000 words approximately, which is not a bit in my book because I fail at writing quickly) and want to, but. Tired. Stress. Gotta find a place to stay. Streeeeeeess. Not getting any writing done lately.

Well, we "only" had thirty-six people signing up to start with, and so far, three or four of them have dropped out. I think that's all right. I pretty much expected ten or so to sign up and five to hand in finished stories, so this is pretty big already for me :D

it wasn't badly written or anything, but. it concentrated solely on Ianto, who's not my favourite character to begin with, and then there were multiple iantos and they were making out with each other and then there was a jack who was a figment of ianto's imagination and when the real jack got back, Ianto shot him and that was the end, and, well. *shrugs*

true. and short doesn't mean good either. There is some truly dreadful ficlet sized things out there. Somehow, lately, I've stumbled on more bad porn than should ever be allowed to exist
