25 lines meme thing
memesheep that I am, here is the first 25 lines to some stories (not the most recent, because I started the list before writing them)
1. Gibbs knocked and then waited, not patiently, but he waited nonetheless.
2. Gibbs exited the elevator, rounded the corner and stopped short when he spotted Tony sprawled on the floor of the bullpen, sleeping.
3. Curled in on herself she stayed out of sight in her special spot, hiding from the chaos out in the main room. First there had been a lot of yelling, then several loud bangs and then everything was quiet.
4. Tony would never speak about it willingly, and Gibbs refused to ask.
5. Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Donald "Ducky" Mallard was about to leave the morgue for the evening when he paused, his hand on the light switch.
6. The car was cold, but Gibbs couldn’t turn on the heater without giving away their position and ruining the stakeout.
7. “What are you doing?” Tosh watched as Jack spread a photo of Janet out on the table.
8. Ianto sank bonelessly into the couch.
9. Sergeant Benton knocked forcefully before entering.
10. The team had followed the path into the forest.
11. Abby wandered over to where Tony was playing bartender.
12. Turlough looked horrified. “Earth? Again?”
13. No one was willing to admit who broke the vial, but in the end it didn’t matter since all Torchwood employees, as a rule, were inoculated against the toxin’s effects.
14. The constable on the phone looked up when Jack entered the Consulate, acknowledging him with a smile and brief wave of the hand as he continued speaking, “yes, in Canada . . . Yes, I do realize your establishment is based in Chicago, that’s why I’m calling you . . .
15. Of course, it would have to be Owen who’d finally overheard him.
16. Tony’s mind whirled as he sat in the lab waiting for the test results.
17. There was so much to do whenever the Daedalus arrived.
18. “No,” the Doctor warned, “try to do the right thing for once, won’t you?”
19. Tony brushed his thumb along the small scar just behind his ear.
20. Gibbs mentally slapped himself when he realized he’d paused in the doorway to Abby’s lab in an attempt to delay having to face her.
21. “Stop that.” Bob folded his arms and affixed the perpetrator with his fiercest glare, but it was to no avail.
22. Owen was mad. Beyond mad. Livid.
23. Jack remained on the sidelines as the Doctor’s odd little family celebrated their recent success.
24. “What,” the Doctor asked as he sat down, “is that?”
25. Eventually the Doctor located Jack in the wardrobe room.
What I find interesting is how few of these are actually Jack stories. There was a time that he was ENTIRELY my fandom. Now I seem to be writing a lot of NCIS and more SGA noncrossovers. Also interesting is that although I've done many, many dialogue drabbles, I apparently rarely start a story with dialogue. I didn't know that either. hmmmm....
