Summary: Tony was right and Kate was wrong, and he's not going to let her forget that any time soon.

“I hate to say I told you so, Kate... but I told you so.”

“Fine. You were right. Is that what you want me to say, Tony? That you were right and I was wrong?”

“I told you it was a bad idea, Abby told you it was a bad idea even Ducky told you it was a bad idea, but you-”

“Ducky didn’t say it was a bad idea!”

“Fine, my mistake. Ducky told you it ‘might not be the smartest way of celebrating such a momentous occasion’  which boils down to pretty much the same thing.”

“But I thought...”

“Thought what, Kate? Thought that you knew better than we did? More like you didn’t think. For heaven’s sake, the man’s a marine. A marine!”

“I know that, Tony. I do. I just didn’t expect...”

“If you didn’t expect this kind of reaction then don’t know the marine mindset at all.”

“No, I guess I don’t.”

“But I guess you know better now, don’t you?”

“I definitely do.”

“Good, then you can get this mess cleaned up while I go find something patch up the bullet holes. And Kate?”

“Yeah, Tony?”

“No more surprise birthday parties for Gibbs, okay?”

You kept me guessing throughout - the last line was spot on.

I love it! I can totally see this happening; I never felt like Kate really got Giibs (or Tony, for that matter), despite her being a profiler (though it always kind of seemed to me that they just said she was a profiler cuz her 'profiling' never really seemed to be anything that someone in a psych 101 class could deduce). But I digress from how awesome this fic is. I could totally see this happening on the show. Great work!

Ha! Bullet holes, yikes. This is very well structured - I couldn't wait to see what happened, and the payoff was great.

I saw an episode over the summer where Gibbs was fixing stuff in a closet for some woman he seemed to be living with or maybe going to live with - was that Kate?

No, that would have been Hollis Mann, she was a CID Lt Colonel (CID is the army's version on NCIS) she and Gibbs were an item for a bit- most of S4 I think, but then she retired and moved to Hawaii or somewhere like that.
