I have heard tell of  people capable of buying Halloween candy weeks before the holiday and not eating it before the trick-or-treaters come.

Apparently I am not one of those people.

What?  Reese's peanut butter cups are a perfectly healthy lunch!

Ours tends to sit there for weeks, and then continues to sit there for another 3-4 months before someone finally throws it away.

Nobody eats candy in this house--apparently, we're all strange.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
seriously? Seriously? *blinks* seriously?

that's so healthy. And odd. I mean, good for you.

The main reason I don't, is because it's always made me sick--the smell alone is horrible. Everyone else just isn't intersted, but they could probably manage a bite.

In this house, we mostly eat fish from Captain D's. And potatoes and carrots and a little bit of pot roast (or chicken--it varies each week, and I don't touch the pot roast) in the crock pot on Sundays. Mom might eat a brownie once every few months.

Oh, and to show how strange we are: Mom bought two tins of brownies for me (because it's the only sort of sweet thing I can stand, that doesn't make me sick--they make it a special way, apparently) from HSN. They lasted a year and a half. Then, they had to be thrown out because they had melted.

Edited to add something I remembered once I saw a comment below. Last winter, Mom found a chocolate Easter Bunny in the back of the fridge. The last time anyone had bought one was when I was 5 or 6. I'm 27 now. She threw it away.

wow. that must suck- having the smell make you ill.

*yipes* at the Easter bunny surprise!

It's that, and the fact that it would probably tear out my fillings if I could eat candy.

We never would have found that thing if the fridge hadn't practically blown up in a few spots.

It is not a good sign when food decides to go commando and attack things!

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
I've had a bag of chocloate "toes" and "eyeballs" and such in my desk drawer for a month, waiting to be distributed to the students. :) I'm still working on the bag of chocolate eggs I bought at Easter - and it's possible it was last Easter. I like chocolate, I just don't eat very much at a time, or very often, I guess!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)
*mind boggles* maybe I should have bought candy I didn't like that much

[identity profile] kensieg.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 05:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I bought holiday mix: pumpkins, Indian and candy corn.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 05:45 pm (UTC)(link)
that I could have stayed away from. It was the yummy combo of chocolate and peanut butter that spelled my doom

[identity profile] kensieg.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm sensitive to chocolate and hate peanut butter

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, then pb cups are not for you!

I never met chocolate or pb I didn't like

[identity profile] cold-ember-32.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? I thought those people only existed in fairy tales.... I mean, I've heard stories about them but I've never actually met one....

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 07:52 pm (UTC)(link)
*looks at other comments* they exist! It's scary, but apparently they exist!

[identity profile] cold-ember-32.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Hunh.... weird. It's like meeting big foot.... I am so incapable of resisting the temptation (hence why my halloween candy is safely locked away from me right up until Halloween (and even then some of it falls victim before even a single trick-or-treater can get any... except for that one year where some kid showed up at, like, 3 in the afternoon. Seriously, I think he got off the schoolbus, thre on his costume post hast and then sprinted to my front door. No joke. It kinda creeped me out, actually.... I thought it was the UPS guy....)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
I usually know better and buy it the day or so before, but it was on sale and I had a coupon....

there is *always* a ridiculously early trick-or-treater or two. It's a law

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2008-10-20 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I was about to say that those people are entirely mythical, but then...I read comments. *stares* I need to borrow some willpower from them, apparently. Seriously, I buy my Halloween candy two days before. Sometimes the day before.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I would have sworn they are mythical too!!

Willpower... I think I've heard of that too....

[identity profile] http://users.livejournal.com/_medley_/ 2008-10-20 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
If you find some, tell me where.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I think mine has been hijacked by this scary guy *points to icon*

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 11:10 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought the ideal lunch was a Coke and a Snickers. Or maybe that's just when you're stuck in lab...

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-20 11:13 pm (UTC)(link)
that works too- snickers have peanuts, peanuts= protein....

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2008-10-23 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
See!

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
This is why I don't buy Halloween candy until the day before.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 03:32 am (UTC)(link)
I really can't blame you. It's just all sitting there, calling to you, pretty much anytime you walk into a store.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
and it was on sale! And... and... and...

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
exactly! Those things are sinful

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 03:37 am (UTC)(link)
god yes. chocolate+pb= yummerific

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
My favorite is the pumpkin shaped ones, because the ratio of pb to chocolate is higher.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
OMG yes. they have x-mas tree and easter egg ones too with equal pb maddness. ♥

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
I love going to the store the day after the holiday and buying a huge handful of them at half-off

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, man, the day after is ALWAYS the best.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
The sneaky thing is to buy one of those packages of 6. USually they are on sale for $1, while the single eggs/pumpkins whatever are 50 cents each

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
I did that at TARGET one year. So. Tasty.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 04:56 am (UTC)(link)
one year, yeah.... right. I lean more towards once a year

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-10-21 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I lived by WalMart, before...
