When it was announced they were going to offer permanent accounts again, I was considering it until I read this...

It's almost here—the Permanent Account sale! For a limited time only, you can purchase a Permanent Account for only $175.

Okay, seriously? Last time it was offered it was something like $99, a year later it's this much more? *sigh* Before it was the same price as 5 years of paid account, now it's nearly 9? Wow. Even with it offering a few more amenities, that's still *really* expensive.

Anyone thinking of getting one or already have one and are very happy with it?

I honestly have no idea when the $99 could have been, because I've never seen it and I have links to the cost of $150 from last time. I hate to disagree with you, but I know folk who bought it last time and as I said I bought it prior to that and it was |$150. So I honestly don't know where $99 could come from. Is confused, is very confused.

June 2007 (the last time they were offered) http://community.livejournal.com/lj_biz/240498.html As you can see that is $150. Now $25.00 went to charity then if you bought in the first 36 hours, but other than that I am at a loss.

And in June 2005 (when I bought mine, I've just checked) it was definitely $150.

quite possibly I'm going mental. Or remembering the price in Pounds, not dollars. *shrugs* Although insane is probably the most likely reason.

There, there. *Pets gently*

I've always said that sanity is dreadfully overrated.

As someone pointed out this time, they aren't donating out of their own 'pocket' this time, are they?

$25 will be donated to charity (but if it works like these things usually do, we don't get credit for the donation, LJ does so we're actually paying for the privilege of them getting a tax write off)

Good point, oh, cynical one! I hadn't thought of that.

And a true one too.

oh, cynical one... I like it

*Chuckles*

I'm glad.
