When it was announced they were going to offer permanent accounts again, I was considering it until I read this...
It's almost here—the Permanent Account sale! For a limited time only, you can purchase a Permanent Account for only $175.
Okay, seriously? Last time it was offered it was something like $99, a year later it's this much more? *sigh* Before it was the same price as 5 years of paid account, now it's nearly 9? Wow. Even with it offering a few more amenities, that's still *really* expensive.
Anyone thinking of getting one or already have one and are very happy with it?

The price threw me for a good bit though. $175? Gah... last time I think it was $120... which I figured wasn't too bad. 175 though seems overly much. I mean, do I really think I'll use it for 10 or so years???
I'm still thinking of getting it though -> now I'm just gonna have to put more thought into it.
Edit: Maybe it was just %125AUD. Hmm.... wait... that's gonna be what like, $200 in AUD??? *gets converter* Fuck.... it's $260. Omg.

EDIT And it appears that the extra $25.00 will go to charity

The extra $25 will go to charity? Hmm... that sounds kinda fishy. It's like going 'hmm... buy a permanent account and we'll make you hand an extra $25 to charity.' I mean, I'd prefer it to go to charity and all, but it adds up to an awful lot when I convert it.

But I do now recall that for the first 24 hours (I think) a part of the $150 went to charity. So maybe that is what you're thinking of.
I don't know why they've gone with the charity thing, it kind of made sense last time when they were doing it out of the $150, but . . .

I've had mine for three or so years. I worked out that with me being an icon junkie and always buying extra pics it would have paid for itself in about four years.
I'm happy with mine - there aren't a huge amounts of benefits. You get more pic space (but I never used scrapbook) and voice posts (which I never use) and the full 144 icons (which I love). So yes, I'm more than happy with mine.

But it's good to know you really like having it

June 2007 (the last time they were offered) http://community.livejournal.com/lj_biz/240498.html As you can see that is $150. Now $25.00 went to charity then if you bought in the first 36 hours, but other than that I am at a loss.
And in June 2005 (when I bought mine, I've just checked) it was definitely $150.

I've always said that sanity is dreadfully overrated.
As someone pointed out this time, they aren't donating out of their own 'pocket' this time, are they?
