Hurray for customer service ineptitude

I was on the phone with the customer service of a very fancy jewelry company earlier today to return a present my daughter got.  Their policy is that, since the bracelet arrived broken, shipping is free within the US.

"Where do you live, Ma'am?"

"Minnesota."

"I'm afraid that will require international shipping charges then."

"Why?  It's a state."

"A state of what?"

:) It was really annoying, her aunt and uncle got her this amazing bracelet to wear for the bat mitzvah and there was no clasp! She was heartbroken she couldn't wear it. (and Aunt and Uncle were very angry at the company!)
