Hurray for customer service ineptitude

I was on the phone with the customer service of a very fancy jewelry company earlier today to return a present my daughter got.  Their policy is that, since the bracelet arrived broken, shipping is free within the US.

"Where do you live, Ma'am?"

"Minnesota."

"I'm afraid that will require international shipping charges then."

"Why?  It's a state."

"A state of what?"

*headdesk*

It would be pretty pointless not to, I suppose, considering I get my absolute drink of choice with this thing.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
absolutely! So what'll it be?

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking the biggest Peppermint Mocha humanly possible.

I knew you'd appreciate the idea.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
why are there no peppermint mochas in MN?!?! it's no fair!

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really understand that, because peppermint syrup is really not that difficult to acquire. I mean, Starbucks make their own, so they have to wait for corporate to ship them out, but everyone else could just order some.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
well, if you're going to be logical about it! :)

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, yeah, I know. Logic does not apply to all.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 04:20 am (UTC)(link)
sometimes I fear it does not apply to very many

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I have always said that sanity is overrated, but logic is still nice

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-16 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Definitely. Especially if you actually wish to resolve an argument.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-16 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, yes. Can't forget that part.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-16 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
a good baseball bat would end things as well, but... I mean. Yes, without violence is key

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-16 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Or a sturdy plastic lightsaber. Not that I've ever ended an argument in that manner or anything.

Actually, I've mostly just started them that way.

*bites tongue* I can see that

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-16 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
It's really fun jumping siblings in the dark with the light-up ones.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-16 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
your childhood was so much more interesting than mine

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-16 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, well, when you grow up with you closest neighbors living a mile away, you have to find some way to entertain yourself.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-16 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
and wreak you revenge upon your siblings?
