How Death Comes

Title: How Death Comes
Pairing/Rating/Warning: none, rated G
Word Count: 100
Summary: Death comes for everyone
Author's Note: Written for the Moving Words and Pictures Flashfic Challenge using [personal profile] matsujo9 's video.

The video "How Death Comes"

He stands in front of yet another body.  The rain beats down hard upon the empty shell.  Be they lover, friend, teammate, or even enemy, eventually they are gone.  They all die and leave him, the good, the bad and the indifferent alike.  They may be someone who has lived out their dream, or someone who has never had a chance to dream at all.  To him they are just flashes of light, the spark of their life gone in the blink of an eye.

Death comes for them.  Death always comes for everyone.  Except for him.  Never for him.

Oh, wow. That's just...perfect, really. I love that.

*blushes* flattery will get you everywhere!

[identity profile] becky-h.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 01:17 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's awesome! And painful.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I've been writing too much light stuff lately, I have to amp up the angst meter!

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
To him they are just flashes of light, the spark of their life gone in the blink of an eye.

I like that very much.

Sigh. Sucks to be Jack. ::pets him::

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
be honest... you just wanted an excuse to pet him... (but I am glad you liked that line!)

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
::cough:: Am I that transparent? :)

If not pet him, I want to wrap him in cuddly blankets and feed him hot chocolate. (Especially in "Small Worlds") The man is an angst factory.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 02:04 am (UTC)(link)
Hot chocolate?!?!?!

I love writing angsty or h/c Jack, although I've moved away from it lately

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Hot chocolate?!?!?!

Is that weird? It's warm and comforting! Though maybe it's best not to give Jack sugar...

My normal reaction to "a (male) character I adore is hurting!" is to want to throw blankets, hot chocolate, and sometimes baby animals at them. Well, not throw. More nurturing than throw. :)

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 02:17 am (UTC)(link)
I guess it's probably h/c thing.

To him they are just flashes of light, the spark of their life gone in the blink of an eye.

Awesome.

*blushes* thank you!

Oh, that's just perfect. The drabble really does have the same feel to it as the video - great matching. :-)

Love the last line. Just when I thought I was getting over the immortality thing, you write this and I'm flailing again, because it must hurt so much!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Errr.... sorry? I blame the video. It's not my fault!!!

It's all right. I'm sure I'll start getting all angsty about it anyway once I start watching TW again. It's just that I've been watching and writing happy-go-lucky S1 Jack, and I'd forgetten all this!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
DW and TW Jack is so different, that's very true. I like the deeper, angsty TWJack, but I do miss his flirty DW nature

It's going to be very weird going back to TW Jack, but i think I'm ready.

Might even watch the first episode this evening, depending on how much of my fic Alex finds for me to rewrite! :-)

Oh, want to get that meta thing done first too, before I switch Jacks.

Might be tomorrow, then.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
ooh, looking forward to the meta piece!

I don't even know if it makes sense, tbh. It's long and I wrote it in bits and it's probably not very coherent so it might need some rewriting.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
being coherent is overrated

Not when you're writing meta. :-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
errr... good point

[identity profile] echo-fangirl.livejournal.com 2007-11-03 11:32 pm (UTC)(link)
"Forever" is not something he should have to contemplate. "Forever alone" is so much worse again.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to resort to cliche here, because it's so damn appropriate.

Poor Jack.

Thank you for this.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-04 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Cliches are fine, glad you liked it!

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2007-12-01 06:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh that was- *wipes a tear*

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2007-12-01 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
*accepts* looks like I'm going to need them while I catch up with your list. May I just say you made it terribly pretty in here very quickly - I salute you *G*

I'm still playing around with the journal options, I can't believe someone gifted me this! (all teary eyed about it) keep the tissues but also stay away from beverages, there's a lot of crack too

[identity profile] bioathens.livejournal.com 2007-12-04 02:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh *Jack*… his life is one big history of always getting left behind, and even *death* is in on it!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-12-04 02:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Poor Jack. Glad you liked it
