The Master

Delgado vs Ainley.

Over the past week the kids and I have watched "Claws of Axos" and  "Logopolis."   And, I have to admit, I didn't see a huge difference in the two Masters.

Simm!Master was an entirely different character, but these two seems almost the same.  What sort of differences do you see between Delgado and Ainley's Masters?

Ainley is less the 'gentleman' villian

YES! That makes sense. I hadn't thought about it before, but I can really see that. Less polish and panache. More brutish.

EXACTLY. I can see Delgado and the gloves and the fencing and the refinement and Ainely is. I guess he's the start of a long downhill slide to Simm >.> Justification what? *cough*

I don't think you can hang out in the physical state that the Master is when he was crisp without losing it somehow. And yeah, getting downright mean seems to have been the reaction. That like about hanging on through hate springs to mind.

Oh yes.

oh, I forgot about his crispy critter stage. Bitterness abound

Actually I like your justification!

It's like Delgado was the gentleman's gentleman back in the day of lords and ladies- so far above the common man, Ainley's the upperclass thug of the early part of the century- still has all the learning and knows how to put on a good show, but doesn't really want to take the time or effort and Simm is a mogul- wanting to be on top of the corporate world and using whatever means necessary to stay there
