Random Post of Randomness

1) Just in case LJ goes poof I created an account over at IJ with the oh so original name, donutsweeper.  I friended a few people whose IJ's I knew, but if I missed you please drop me a note so I can friend you.  I don't plan on using the journal unless LJ does disappear, but I really don't want to lose my friends.

2) Today, instead of sitting in a staff meeting today I was home playing solitare on my (at the time) internetless computer.  A much better way to spend my time I think.

I've had _medley_ over there for a good while, although I don't actually use it except for very occasional RP. Had to have underscrores again, drat. If IJ goes splat, I'll start using it. *nods*

Excellent. I'll add you.

I *hope* this is all unneccessary and LJ stays happy and working fine

I hope so, too. I think it'll probably be OK. *crosses things* IJ's not hard to use, though, if worst comes to worst.

new reports seem to imply the firings weren't as bad and whatnot.

I did run an ljarchive again just to be safe (backup=good)

I just loathe the idea of finding new comms and people and whatnot at IJ. *crosses things too*

I love LJArchive. And yeah, every time there's drama, I do backups. It's a good system. *g*

Added you both. I got me an IJ around this time LAST year. Rarely use it though as it's only there as backup.

So how do I archive my LJ stuff again? I have my fic on my website/hard drive but what about backing up my posts?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
it depends on what operating system you use I used
http://community.livejournal.com/ljarchive/
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ljarchive
it saves posts and comments

but there are other ways too

Cheers. Will have to download later, is taking forever. I wonder why? *g*

my internet is wonky.

newest info about it is that LJ's not going anywhere, but an archive can't hurt in my opinion

Hee, I wonder. LJ panic, ahoy. *g* That's a good program, though. Very very easy to use. And gives you some fun stats. Most-used words, that kind of thing.

It doesn't like me D:. *whips ljdump instead* Download, little python script!

I doubt LJ's going pop, but I needed to do a backup anyway. It's a good reminder.

I was ridiculously pleased that I was able to get just "64" there a while back as a username. I've had phoenix64 in one place or another for over ten years, and while consistency can be nice change can be pretty darned nice too. The reason I picked phoenix in the first place is that if I can't reinvent myself occasionally I get twitchy.

This is another situation where I never intended to actually use the thing, but grabbed it for occasional one-shot RP. Much like I never really intended to use my LJ, I just needed something so I wasn't commenting on fic anonymously. Um, yeah. *g*

Reinventing is good. I'm a big believer in reinventing. I just...kinda feel like a Medley, though. I think it suits me.
