NCIS I am so disappointed in you.  An episode like that and then those promos?

I'm just glad they didn't go for the cliche.

I get the feeling the promo is the problem, not necessarily the episode, but we can only hope.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
The episode itself was lame... just flittered about with no real point. And the "son" aspect was terrible. Finalizing it (that Gibbs isn't the father) was bad. Having Gibbs be the father's killer, was worse. They should have left it ambiguous. Or not brought it up.

The Tony minor storyline was also lame. No doctor's office (or dentist or whatever) would ever call and leave a message like that. Or have their number blocked.

And next week's? I don't care if it is all cut and pasted to be a problem- THEY HAVE ALREADY DONE THIS STORY. Why oh WHY put us through anything like it again?

I'm getting tired of Franks. Much as I enjoy the actor, the more time he spends on screen the less time we get with the team.

I'm glad the kid wasn't Gibbs' son. That would have been shark-jump-worthy. That his target was the kid's father was unnecessary.

As for next week, I'm willing to see what they do with it.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I am heartily sick of Franks. Have been for a while now. Especially after the season finale. Originally, he was interesting, especially the gruff way he treated his 'probie' but we've seen that now. Now.. I just don't care.

I'll wait and see too... but I'm nervous. Tony's really regressing to the stupid jokester and prankster we got glimpses of earlier on. Where is his police skills? His intelligence?

I hope we *do* get to see them next week.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:30 am (UTC)(link)
I've been so disappointed this season, I am not getting my hopes up.

I'm *very* ready for a nice meaty Tony episode. They're so few and far between these days.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pickier. I want a meaty Tony ep where he's competent and not made to look like an ass
ext_3440: (Default)

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
For me, competence is required for meaty. :-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
For me too, but I'm not sure tptb feel the same way

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Sneaking in to agree-They've already done this story!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
With luck it's a small aspect of a bigger story, but still

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
What? I haven't watched it yet. Gah! Do I need to be prepared for something terrible? ::stresses::

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Ugh. Do I even want to watch now? I shouldn't check my flist before I watch TV, I'm too easily discouraged.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:22 am (UTC)(link)
Mike Franks (Gibbs' was his Probie back in the day, Mike the team leader) has a big role. It's not a terrible eppy, but not anything I'd go out of my way to see again.

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Eek, you're telling me more details! I'll be back after I watch. Sorry, I'm just more sensitive to spoilers than anybody else on earth. It's a sickness I'm working on. ::headwall::

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Sorry, Mike appeared in the commercials and coming attractions, I thought you already knew. He's been in an episode or two a season for a few years now.

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know who that character is (or I didn't until I watched the ep), so for a normal person it should be no big deal knowing that. It's more fun if I can watch unbiased, that's the logical explanation for not wanting to see episode reactions, but I'm too affected. I consider my responses way out of line with normal people--one of these days I'm going to learn to do *all* my overreacting in private. I apologize! ::looks for copy of Being Sane for Dummies::

Now that I've seen it, I'm just distracted by the fact that I want to write an NCIS/Smurfs crossover called "Smurf Wars." Is there a thing where when you're trying to write something important, you get more productive writing stuff you hadn't even planned? Since I started thinking about doing Big Bang, I've written 5400 words of *other* fic. Oy.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 04:02 am (UTC)(link)
I spent the day figuring out how to write SGA AU with Sheppard as a Robin Hood type character instead of my bigbang, so I'm the wrong person try to help you on that front.

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
I was just wondering if it's a known problem. I thought I remembered people talking about it before, but I had never experienced it.

Robin Hood SGA sounds fun!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 04:07 am (UTC)(link)
Sheppard with a bow and arrow. Or something. My brain is a weird place.

My main problem for bigbang is that while I may actually have an idea, I'm not sure how to start it. (Thus the earlier poll)

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
My brain is a weird place.

I don't know, that sounds like a logical and delightful direction for an AU to me!

::nods:: Starting can be hard. Sometimes writer's block advice lists will advise you to start in the middle, but I don't know if that applies to fiction, especially if you tend to write in order.

Is it the same idea you signed up with, or a different one?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 04:13 am (UTC)(link)
different. I don't actually remember exactly what I said in the summary when I signed up, although I did warn I might not right it.

Crack snippet

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 05:37 am (UTC)(link)
Gibbs strode through the office, coffee in hand. "Two kids playing in the park found a dead Marine under the swingset. Skull clawed open. Let's go."

Tony looked up from his computer. "Clawed open, boss?"

*
Twenty minutes later they stood over the body. A swing squeaked as it moved in the breeze.

"Still wondering about the murder weapon, DiNozzo?"

"No, boss, that's definitely a claw." Part of the weapon was still embedded in the unfortunate skull. A quarter-teaspoon of brains had spilled out onto the sand.

"I'd say that came from a cat."

"I agree. But, um, boss..." Tim struggled to find the right words to breach what might be a sensitive subject, "you didn't say anything about our dead Marine being two inches tall."

"Or blue!" Tony added. "Can't forget blue."

"You got a problem with his race, DiNozzo?"

"No, boss!" Tony protested. "A Marine is a Marine. I just..."

"Good."

Tim took a toothpick from his pocket, kneeled on the ground next to the body, and prodded the right arm. He stooped lower, squinting at something.

Tony shook his head. "Ducky is gonna kill you for disturbing the crime scene."

Tim ignored him. "Ah, here we go. Definitely a Marine. There's a tattoo here - 'SEMPER FI'."

Ziva nodded knowingly. "Smurf wars are hell."

::snort:: It should be called Shower Fic: only what you can think of in the shower. Hee.

Okay, it's completely silly, but I guess that hasn't stopped me from posting stuff before. *g*

just giving you your due.

*runs to go see*

[identity profile] snufflesdbear.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
I am really disappointed in how the show has gone since they because "popular". The way Tony is going - like he's forgotton all he has learned over the years, and the fact he's a COP! Abby is regressing to a teen ager, Gibbs just seems lost - but goes give the cutest smile at some of Tony's less-lame antics. Tim, OTOH, seems to be progressing and growing. Ziva...I honestly don't think they have a clue what to do with a strong Female character like her. Although, I love her taking out the 2 gangbangers tonight.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:39 am (UTC)(link)
*gah* exactly- for all of those reasons. Although Tim's annoying me too. Last week with his random glib dig on Tony by bringing up Jeanne?

The show's just coasting about, none of the episodes mean anything anymore.

[identity profile] snufflesdbear.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Caosting is exactly it (my a is not working, and I not fixing things!)

I assumed he brought up Jeanne due to a lovers spat....er...I mean, to keep it in mind for a future episode. You know she is not gone for good. There's gotta be some TonyHurtin' coming back.

Yeah, they did do the Frame Up before. These guys need to watch earlier eps, I think.

Notice how many of the shows seem to have lost their energy after coming back from the strike? And everything seems to think they need a 'ship in it. I don't want my shows shipped! That's what fanfic is for. Jack/Ianto is the only thing I like to see on air. (and only so far as we have seen). I am weird, I have been told.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
And last week not mentioning "Dead Man Talking" at all?!?! With Chris Pacci dying the exact same way? It's horrifying how little they seem to remember old episodes.

Some post-strike shows are okay. Supernatural has been amazing. But many just lost focus, like NCIS.

I don't ship. At all. Pretty much ever. I don't even own slash goggles. I am very weird.

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 04:52 am (UTC)(link)
I don't ship either. Or slash. I like my canon canon, I guess. That's the thing with slash, I have a hard time suspending my disbelief that those two characters would get together. And when people insist it's in the subtext, it pisses me off.

I saw your post here before I'd seen tonight's episode and was so worried going to watch it. I wasn't sure if this episode was terrible and the promo looked awesome or this episode was awesome and the promo looked terrible, but now it seems you meant this episode wasn't good and the promo didn't look better. In any case, the episode was not the horror I was expecting, so that's good.

I didn't DVR long enough to get the promo.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-11 04:55 am (UTC)(link)
not the horror you were expecting is always good.

The promo had someone usurping Tony's identity to commit a murder and Tony being accused of one again. It just... didn't look good. No aspect of the promo at all looked good to me

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-02-13 12:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Uh oh. I didn't catch the promo...

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-13 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
With any luck next week's episode is sunshine and puppies and they just chose very unfortunate scenes to show us.....

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 08:54 am (UTC)(link)
I like your hopeless optimism.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-15 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
*clings to hope NCIS won't completely suck*

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
I'm right there with you,

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
or, ooh, even better, white russian time

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 02:09 am (UTC)(link)
But dangerous, because they taste so good.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-02-16 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
That's pretty much how all the best drinks go, I think.
