Torchwood 3x02 question (and a bit of reaction)

For a brief second, at about the 15 minute mark, the Torchwood information is brought up on the screen by Lois Abeeba (the inquisitive newbie/temp in Frobisher's office) and it says "although Torchwood 2 in Glasgow is thought to have disbanded and Torchwood 1 in London is now defunct following the Battle of Canary Wharf..."

So... poor 'very strange man in Glasgow' is no more? (And no mention of TW 4, btw, I guess it really is lost.)

And.... EWWWWWWW gross. Just ew. Although it does imply the Face of Boe thing is a load of crap.

And.. why are some kids in school and some not? I'd very much like this to make a little more sense please.

I still don't understand why this kid-speaking thing lead to the kill order on Torchwood. Or why there is yet ANOTHER supersekkrit UK alien/terrorist hunting organization. Or where UNIT is.

And... there was a story about Jack being sealed up in concrete. It gave me nightmares. Thanks, TW, I really needed to revisit that.

I did laugh when, in the previews, Jack is in his WWII coat again. Good to know it never goes out of style. And survives bombs and fire and everything else.

I hope Myfanwy is okay. :(

there are certainly enough of those to choose from!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-11 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. Books too. I don't need it shoved down my throat every week on tv too

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-11 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
although, in general, I can't stand sitcoms. They're too dumb for me.

Nor can I. I'm pretty sure the only one I ever liked was Home Improvement.

I watched that a bit. current ones-wise I've occassionally caught some of "big bang theory" and "2 and a half men" they aren't bad, but not great either

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 03:41 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really ever watch TV on TV, anymore, so I pretty much don't see any of the new ones.

Ah. Makes sense. There's a ton on youtube for some reason. My hubby watched two and a half men on youtube so I overhear a lot.

best line? they tell the kid he can't stay home alone and the kid says 'why' and they say 'you know why' to which the kids responds- 'but I don't have a turtle to put in the microwave anymore"

I really kind of hope I get this apartment I applied for, because cable and internet both come standard, so I could actually watch stuff a lot more easily.

LOL, oh dear.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
oooh, that would be NICE.

I only have basic cable (not digital) which kind of sucks, but at least I do have that and fairly decent internet

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 04:06 am (UTC)(link)
I miss cable, mostly for SciFi (or, should I say, SyFy).

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
They dropped scifi for a bit here and we considered getting digital but then they brought it back. We're considering digital anyway mostly because of bbca and a soccer channel (hubby liked soccer)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
YES! So much so! But it's really not worth the extra $20 a month. Not at the moment anyway.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
it really is. I keep hoping they'll redo the pricing so it's not so bad.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 07:11 am (UTC)(link)
You'd think they'd want to drop the price a bit to get more people interested.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
some cable companies ONLY offer digital now. I wonder if mine will do that soon.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Urgh. I was never fond of this whole digital transition. I never saw the point.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
well, having any cable you don't have to worry about converter issues. But overall it seemed silly

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 08:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It's all about quality, which I think hardly justifies a government mandate. Meanwhile, I've lost two channels because, even if you do have a weak signal, it doesn't show anything at a certain point.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
there's no longer the 'snow' it's just nothing, right?

Seems silly to me. Pretty much forcing people not in good regions to get cable

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Right.

Exactly. I doubt my parents could use the converter box even if they wanted.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-12 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
so if you can't afford cable, or cable isn't in your area you are shit out of luck
