Torchwood 3x02 question (and a bit of reaction)

For a brief second, at about the 15 minute mark, the Torchwood information is brought up on the screen by Lois Abeeba (the inquisitive newbie/temp in Frobisher's office) and it says "although Torchwood 2 in Glasgow is thought to have disbanded and Torchwood 1 in London is now defunct following the Battle of Canary Wharf..."

So... poor 'very strange man in Glasgow' is no more? (And no mention of TW 4, btw, I guess it really is lost.)

And.... EWWWWWWW gross. Just ew. Although it does imply the Face of Boe thing is a load of crap.

And.. why are some kids in school and some not? I'd very much like this to make a little more sense please.

I still don't understand why this kid-speaking thing lead to the kill order on Torchwood. Or why there is yet ANOTHER supersekkrit UK alien/terrorist hunting organization. Or where UNIT is.

And... there was a story about Jack being sealed up in concrete. It gave me nightmares. Thanks, TW, I really needed to revisit that.

I did laugh when, in the previews, Jack is in his WWII coat again. Good to know it never goes out of style. And survives bombs and fire and everything else.

I hope Myfanwy is okay. :(

I thought that story too, where Jack was sealed in concrete and I too had nightmares because of it.

I usually save all stories to my hard drive, but not that one. I really don't want to read it ever again.

And it seems government don't know a shit about Torchwood. =)

That was one of those stories that just stick with you, wasn't it? *shudders* I was SO glad Ianto got Jack out this episode, I would have hated to have to wait till the next one for that.

The government does seem a bit... errm... confused about things. :)

It didn't give me nightmares but what I was thinking would probably make you have more so I shan't say.

I thought there seemed to be a lot of children NOT in school - even allowing for children having dental/hopsital/doctors appointments there seemed to be far too many wandering around, in uniform, with their mums.

I'm was wanting to believe it was because Jack was somehow involved the first time BUT that wouldn't make sense as then he'd have recognised what was going on, surely?

I thinks they have forgotten about Myfanwy :(

How did he not have concrete in his lungs and up his nose and in all those places?

I wouldn't have minded the kids being out and about if it looked like they were 5 or so- too young for school, or out on a field trip of some sort, but the way it aired just seemed silly. Glad I wasn't the only one who thought so.

So far the storyline with Jack and the other random people murdered (the names meant nothing to me) doesn't make much sense. Hopefully it will later.

Myfanwy was out hunting donuts, right? Right?!?!

That. Or visiting her 'Primeval' friends :D

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
*hee* there you go!! She'll come back when it's safe then!

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
She's not daft, she'll wait for Jack to go fetch her :D

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 04:31 pm (UTC)(link)
with a decent chocolate bribe, of course

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, *nods* absotively.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 04:42 pm (UTC)(link)
*sigh* I hope the show deals with some of this. Poor Plas, all explody.

I assumed a lot of parents were panicking and kept their children home. Didn't Alice ask Jack if it was safe to send them back?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-08 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
That would make sense as to why the kids weren't in school, but if a parent was worried, why wouldn't they keep them home?

My personal take is that Jack *was* involved the first time, but hasn't yet put this visitation together with an event from 40+ years back. Jack doesn't know about the '456' radio band sending instructions; he only knows that the kids are talking in unison. They're afraid that Jack will remember, so they're hoping to neutralise him first.

Speaking as a mum with two kids in high school, there are loads of reasons for kids to be out of school. Government school sdon't have the same holidays as private schools, and independent schools have other ones again; also there's curriculum days, and half-holidays, and sports days.. and those are just when the entire student body would be out of class. I've taken my kids out at lunchtime because they had appointments in mid-afternoon, and it's less disruptive if they leave at lunch instead of half-way through a class.

Myfawny may have been out, if it was her time of day to be flying. However the Weevils haven't got a chance. Even if they survived the explosion there's nobody to look after them now.

ah, thanks. That's one less plot hole at least.

And that very may well be the case, Jack and the other 3 people on the 'kill list' all were involved back when and the government is trying to tidy up that loose end.

My brain is apparently curious about this story involving Jack in concrete. I'm currently trying to chase it back into the gutter, where it belongs.

Myfanwy better be OK.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-09 02:04 pm (UTC)(link)
it's a pretty old story (pre series 2 I believe) about a guy who's mom was an alien and had sunglasses where you could see someone's true look- so he could see her as an alien, but he could also see people before plastic surgery and saw Jack with all his injuries like they never healed.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-10 12:45 pm (UTC)(link)
pretty much. a very creepy nightmare inducing story over all

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-07-10 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
I think my brain just fled back to the gutter.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-10 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
seriously, don't go looking for it.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-07-10 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I won't. I have enough nightmares as it is.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-10 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
do the writers even stop to consider what they've put Jack through?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-07-11 04:16 am (UTC)(link)
buried for 2 thousand years, encased in concrete... no I don't think they do

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-07-11 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
I somehow don't think a person would remain sane after all that.
