Drat, one of them is the ghost haunting Abby's lab. If I can make the idea work. (Which is a big if) It is out on DVD and the pilot is up at youtube

That's actually kinda cool. :-) I bet it's up on Hulu.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
unfortunately not. It's not streaming online anywhere I could find.

I suspect I can find it. :-) I've heard lots of good things about it.

For a show that only had 20 something episodes it has a very loyal fandom. Although, it's interesting how much fanon there is for it. (some basic things, like the town it takes place in, were never mentioned in the series, but fanon has named it)

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
LOL! Fanon's good about that. ;-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 01:09 am (UTC)(link)
there's QUITE a lot in that fandom that fanon has created. NCIS doesn't have as much, but there is some (although more is just conflicting canon)

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
With only 20 episodes, strong fanon is pretty much a requirement, I'd think. :-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 01:25 am (UTC)(link)
otherwise it would have faded away. it's strange how some fandom's thrive and others just never take hold

There's got to be something that reaches out and grabs people. It's always a shame when a show dies on the vine, especially when it's still sparking people's imaginations a decade later.

Mag7 was one of the cases where fan support got the show to avoid cancellation- it originally only had a half season but got renewed based on the support. The network still cancelled it after the next season, but it's always nice when fans get the brass to listen like that.

Oh, man, that *is* nice. I'll have to check it out now. :-)

some basic info to get you started- crack_van's overview (http://community.livejournal.com/crack_van/1024966.html)

The really neat thing about Mag7 is there are several AU verses, where someone wrote an AU and then decided to open the idea up and let anyone who wants to play in that playground. The most common is the ATF verse, where the 7 live in the modern day as ATF agents in Denver.

I've heard of this one. :-)

Well, Mag7 is now on my "list of things to watch". ;-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
*hee* I haven't even watched them all yet, I've been slowly going through them but I've been devouring the fic

I should have a solitary weekend soon. I love mainlining "new" shows. :-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 01:50 am (UTC)(link)
I can point you to fic if you're interested when the time comes. Although I know of more stuff with my favorite and that ship than others

I'll let you know. :-)

May be after Thanksgiving, so don't hold your breath. ;-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
:) I'm weird. I'll delve into a fandom and read voraciously for a few weeks and then drop it completely. I really thought Mag7 would be like that for me, but it's sticking. It doesn't hurt that the shine is going off other fandoms I suppose...

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
A lot depends, I think, on if there's a critical mass of either fic or writers producing new fic. There's too little, for example, NCIS fic and not enough writers producing new stuff. Makes it difficult to maintain it as a habit. With SG1, there were some amazingly productive years and people are still writing. So even though production has slowed down, there's enough older stuff out there that you can reread without memorizing. :-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-08 02:06 am (UTC)(link)
That's a good point. There's only a little Mag7 written now, but there SO MUCH backlog I can read like mad and always have something new. But NCIS was never a huge or massively productive fandom so it doesn't take that long to catch up
