a thinky thought

The problem with writing a story in wordperfect as opposed to on paper is that when it's not working there isn't the satisfaction of ripping the page out of the notebook, crumpling it up and tossing it into the wastepaper basket. Dragging the little icon to the recycle bin is just disappointing in comparison.

Print it out and then rip it up!

Not green, exactly, but oh, so satisfying. Maybe you can keep scrap paper around for just that purpose. :D

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
I don't have a printer :(

Actually I have three printers, but none of them work. Printers last about 6 weeks and then die, this computer is cursed or something.

Maybe I should handwrite the story I'm trashing just so I can crumple it and toss it out?

[identity profile] travels-in-time.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
I dunno. The slowness and hand cramps involved in handwriting a story is not worth the possible satisfaction, IMO.

Hmmm, good point. Maybe I should just eat chocolate instead.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
I suppose a late night run to the supermarket for chocolate would be a little silly?

[identity profile] travels-in-time.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
Never!

Running out of chocolate in the first place...some might consider that a little silly...

Huh. I have tons of coffee icons and no chocolate ones.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
stupid bloody attempt at dieting... I have coffee and donut icons, but only the one chocolate icon.

I do have chocolate chips, I suppose I could throw together cookies or brownies or something.

[identity profile] travels-in-time.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:18 am (UTC)(link)
You're making this needlessly complicated. Eat the chocolate chips right out of the bag!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:20 am (UTC)(link)
*sits on hands*

oooh, I have butterscotch chips too. And rice krispies. super easy rice krispy candy to the rescue- 2 min to make, stick in the freezer to harden and one tasty treat coming right up!

[identity profile] travels-in-time.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
Yay! *cheers* I knew you'd think of something!

I gotta go to bed; eat one for me!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
I shall! Sleep well!

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
Digital acts are definitely less viscerally satisfying than physical ones. Like the difference between "Rusty has left the chat" and actually slamming a door. (I've never left a chat upset, but just as an example. *g*)

Sorry you're feeling page rippy though!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:21 am (UTC)(link)
oh, that doesn't have the same feel at all. A good door slam can be a wonderful thing! (Unless you wake a cat, that can be dangerous)

*grumbles at yuletide story*

I refer you to this thread for a fun and distracting image.

Oh, wait, it might be locked if you didn't join wrisomifu... hang on...

oh that is all kinds of awesome!

[identity profile] travels-in-time.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
There should be an option that you can click while chatting. "Rusty has stomped out, slammed the door, and keyed your car on the way down the driveway."

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:23 am (UTC)(link)
That would be an AWESOME option!

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Bwa haha ha ha! Or at *least* an animated smiley for it.

[waits for Donut to find something from her collection....]

[identity profile] travels-in-time.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Right? If anybody's got a "keying the car" smiley...

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:27 am (UTC)(link)
Image is the best I can do. Image is a great "hey kids, get off my lawn" one

Ha, you do have a door slamming smiley! And it's cussing! Awesome. (I like the grumpy man, too. That's how I feel in my apartment most of the time. "What are you cooking down there? Keep it to yourself! Stop banging on the walls, kids!")

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
I feel like that FAR too often.

random question. If, in a fic, someone compares the bad guy they are talking about to Keyser Söze, would you have any idea who they were talking about?

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
Yup, I would. I saw the movie a couple of years ago. Before that I'm not sure I'd even heard the references, but that could easily have been because I didn't know what I was listening for. I've heard it several times since then.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh GOOD *phew* thank you!

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 09:20 am (UTC)(link)
I would and I haven't even seen the movie.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
REally? Oh excellent. Thanks!

[identity profile] adafrog.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
lol Totally.

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 09:19 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my—. YES.

Sometimes you just need the *physical*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-11-22 04:00 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just one of the disappointments of the digital age I suppose
