Holy crap both NCIS shows sucked tonight.

They are.

there are a few authors that can sell me on the pairing, but they are few and far between

Yeah, they definitely have more of a sibling vibe.

The few times it's worked it's because they fell into it after a night of drinking and commiserating or something

I suppose I could see that.

but usually it's a weird vibe I just can't get into unless it's a guilty pleasure fic.

There are some pairings that I just can NOT wrap my mind around though. The mere thought of them make me shudder

Like Gibbs and McGee?

Yep. Or Ducky/anyone (sorry DM, my brain can't go there)

I didn't even think about that one.

Ducky/Gibbs is a very popular pairing (or has a very vocal following anyway) And I just... no. I can't. Ducky/Gerald seems common as a background pairing in early NCIS fics with a Gibbs/Tony main plotline too. (I don't get that- the need to pair EVERYONE up in a fic. Have you seen that?)

I'm sort of glad I wasn't really in the fandom back then.

I have noticed that quite a bit, particularly with the new Star Trek fandom.

there seems to be slightly less likelihood to pair Ducky with Palmer, but either way I am NOT interested.

I find that pairing of EVERYONE ON THE CANVAS odd. It takes me out of a fic whenever someone does that

It is a bit ridiculous and usually completely unnecessary for the story.
