Summary: Jack reminisces

He used to be a con man.  A rogue.  Fully embracing the mottoes ‘consequences be damned’ and ‘full speed ahead!’  No ties.  No responsibilities.  A lover in every port.

Always on the move, looking for another world, another time, another person to swindle.   Adventure and romance beckoned him from every turn.  It was a bit lonely and definitely dangerous.  But he’d never felt more alive.

And, best of all, there was no paperwork.  Jack sighed, picking a form off the pile on his desk.  A requisition form for more requisition forms?  Utter madness.  Now, why did he settle down again?

Ah, the good old days. Most people acquire a morgtgage and a spouse (or at least alimony) and some kids. Jack just gets paperwork :)

paperwork can be much worse than kids... eventually the kids'll be out of the house, but the paperwork will still be there waiting to be filled out.
