What do you consider canon?

This poll is brought to you by the fact that the international version of the White Collar pilot contained scenes not in the American one...

[Poll #1614567]

This is the first time I'm hearing about an alternate White Collar pilot!

*runs to investigate*

I wrote all of the above in the survey because not every show/movie has the same ways of dispensing canon in addition to the show/movie itself.

I've heard it mentioned here and there but someone put caps and little explanations of the added scenes here (http://katikat.livejournal.com/1180433.html)

I looked at the post, and I feel that it doesn't change much. What would really tell the difference is if more episodes aired internationally had unaired US scenes.

I think it's interesting that the wine bottle is different in that cut scene. But, from what I've heard, only the pilot has the added in scenes, which is a bit odd IMO

Maybe they created two different takes and decided to ship the second one overseas? Or the international version has deleted scenes added back in.

Maybe. I haven't heard anything suggesting the extended version is on the DVDs which is also odd, since they do included deleted scenes and outtakes.

Maybe they weren't allowed to release it in the US. That could happen sometimes.

You might be onto something there

[identity profile] bluetooth16.livejournal.com 2010-09-03 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
There's been times in other fandoms (most notably Doctor Who) when episodes, confidentials, extended universe material weren't released in the US due to copyright fail.

Usually that has to do with music rights or things like that though I thought? *shrugs* Who knows why White Collar was different, unless Jeff Easton deems to tell us, I suppose we'll never know.

The score could be different, because that might be harder to detect changes in. I feel like asking him on Twitter, but he might ignore it.

Oh good point!

I always want to tweet stars and writers but never want to bother them.

From time to time, Eastin opens the Twitter floor to questions. I'll ask the next time.
