The Birthday Memory

Title: The Birthday Memory
Pairing/Warning/Rating: none, rated G
Word Count: 100
Summary: Someone special in Jack's life is having a birthday
Author's Note:  Written for the Guilty Pleasures Fest for the prompt "one memory I don't want to lose"

She was five and wearing a blue and green polka dotted skirt, red and black striped socks and pink shirt with bunnies stitched on it.  A complete sartorial nightmare, but absolutely perfect in every way that mattered.  When she saw him she threw herself into his arms. “Uncle Jack!  You’re here!  Now it’s my bestest birthday ever!”

He hugged her tight; she smelled like bubble gum and sunshine.  “Course I’m here, Kiddo.  I wouldn’t have missed it for the world!”  He closed his eyes, trying to burn the moment into his mind.  “Wait till you see what I got you!”

Thanks! :)

Oh, and my daughter's favorite outfit at that age was the inspiration for that.

I wondered when I read it if there was a real-life inspiration for the outfit.

I will add to the chorus of "Awwwww." Seriously sweet, and I really can imagine Jack that way.

My daughter outfit's was worse, because she also had a checkered vest and sparkly shoes and a cowboy hat. *sigh* those were the days.

Glad you liked it!
