LJ question

Since my flist knows everything... does anyone know how to quit watching a community while still being a member? When you join it you can choose to watch it or not and can always click to add watching it later, but I can't figure out how to stop watching without leaving the community and rejoining. Help?

aha- I knew you guys would be able to help! thank you!

if I remember correctly, they did do that last year, who knows if people will actually pay attention ti that though

people in the Criminal Minds community I'm a part of seem to have no problem with such posts, but they're also WAY more laid back than people in the TW community (which is kind of amusing, considering CM is basically a show about serial killers).

I don't really have experience with other fandoms here on LJ, but that's very interesting

I have far too much experience with other fandoms here on LJ.

I think that's great. I'm only tangentially involved in other fandoms, some are far too huge and scary so I hide on the sidelines

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
most involve a whole lot of unnecessary wank, so I end up not sticking around in the end. the TW fandom is by far the most wank-free fandom I've ever been involved in on LJ.

the tw community is pretty nice, other than this spoiler issue I've been pretty happy with it.

every seems to get along pretty well in the community.

its also a nice size. I was looking at SGA and DW and WOW, those communities are HUGE!

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 09:50 pm (UTC)(link)
that's true. although, I don't mind bigger communities. they just tend to involve a bit more conflict...except maybe DW.

I have noticed some crazily serious shippers though, the 'my ship is the only ship' kind

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 09:59 pm (UTC)(link)
oh god, yes. those kind of people frighten me a bit.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
maybe it's that I'm not a OTP kind of person, but I don't understand why you can't think more than one couple could exist, somewhere out there....

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
especially in the world of TW and DW.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Seriously! I mean, I'm a fairly nice person over all, but when someone starts arguing with me that Ianto will be Jack's true love for ever and ever I want to scream, for the next 16 million years? Really?

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
exactly! Jack and the Doctor don't really have the option of "one true love".

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:24 pm (UTC)(link)
i think they are both capable of love, but couched in a different definition than what is usually means (if that makes sense)

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, I get what you mean. they're both completely capable of love, but I think they both realize at this point that they're not going to be able to love just one person for the rest of their lives (especially considering the whole, you know, "not dying" thing).

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
interestingly, in Jack the Doctor has actually found someone who could be with him and love him for his (the Doctor's) whole life, but Jack will never be able to have the same thing

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:44 pm (UTC)(link)
well, there's that, although I also think the Doctor's not against loving more people along the way, even with Jack around. there is still the idea that Jack's going to be there for the rest of the Doctor's life, though, which I suppose will make any future companion death or departure a bit less depressing.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I also think the Doctor's not against loving more people along the way

I agree 100%. I think change is part of who he is, he might wind up always circling back to Jack, but he could never just stay with Jack.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I think the Doctor might explode if he tried to stand still for too long.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
with all of Ten's nervous energy. absolutely

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-01-10 10:57 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL...definitely. now I have the urge to make an exploding Doctor icon.
