I recently rewatched some of early Sleepy Hollow and there's just so much great stuff about it. TPTB carefully researched language differences (well, sometimes, we'll ignore the Roanoke episode) and worked in little ways Ichabod's would differ from Abbie's. Like in this small scene:



(wherein Ichabod uses a term he knows to refer to Wendy the receptionist)

And this great exchange where Ichabod explains that, for him, a toilet was a vanity closet, intercourse meant social conversation, and awesome meant awe inspiring.

Also there were so many little examples of modern day things he comes across like when - just to name a few - he discovers scotchtape, copies Abbie to learn to open an aluminum can, tries on skinny jeans, and my absolute favorite... wherein he is taught the 'fistbump.'

I really enjoyed the early episodes of Sleepy Hollow, but it gradually lost its charm for me. But this was a great reminder of why I liked it.

*sigh* The first season of Sleepy Hollow was amazing, and I miss those little details like what you mentioned. I've never seen a show decline so fast though. And Abbie . . .

I continued to like Sleepy Hollow, but the Abbie and Crane interactions like those above were really the best and they were missed.

Early Sleepy Hollow was The Best! Ichabod learning things was so much fun. Hee, the fist bump! But you can't leave out Ichabod's conversation with Yolanda, the 'NorthStar' lady, lol!

Oh yes, the Yolanda scene was HILARIOUS I have no idea how Tom Mison managed it with a straight face.

Oh, this makes me remember how many hopes I had for Sleepy Hollow back when it started. Good choices!

Season 1 was so perfect and then they just dropped the ball in so many ways. I've always wondered about that . . . but someday I'll rewatch season 1 by itself and just remember how amazing it was.

IIRC Fox decided to be more hands on after S1 and there was also some writing room changes.
