Jack is being very uncommunicative right now, it's pissing me off.

2k or so to go in the stupid story and he doesn't want to tell me what to do next

It's very annoying. I never figure out outlines before writing, I have a vague general idea of what the story is about and let the characters guide me. It can sometimes be dangerous, like a 1k detour in the flashback where Jack is roped into having 'tea and crumbits' with a little kid and her stuffed animals, but usually it at least works to direct the story somewhere

I do often wonder though how much of Jack is just talk and how much is real.

probably. But today I got in a discussion about his opening salvo in S1E1- 'Love this planet. Still, at least I won't get pregnant. Never doing that again.'

was that supposed to mean, canon-wise speaking that Jack had actually gotten pregnant, or was he just blithering on about nothing?

I don't know. I think the writers are just kind of leaving that decision up to the fans, at this point...evil bastards that they are.
