Tons of MDZS/Untamed Recs, crochet, genealogy, and other things
I made a whole bunch of crochet creatures for my daughter:

a t-rex
a triceratops
and more too I think? But I can't find the pictures of them right now.
holocaust related yet surprisingly happy genealogy story
On and off I've mentioned here I do genealogy as a hobby. Occasionally I wind up exchanging emails with people to find out if there's a distant relationship between us and a few months ago I "met" a distant cousin, David (we share a great-great grandfather). Anyway, he was new to genealogy and had been trying to find out what happened to his great-aunt's (granddaughter of our shared gg grandfather) son, Adam. She died shortly before WWII and David had heard Adam had been adopted and survived but never managed to trace him and asked if I knew anything. I hadn't, but starting with the info David knew I began looking and after doing a ton of research I eventually tracked down a shoah survivor's story from someone I was 99% sure was Adam. I passed everything I found on to David and then didn't hear anything else.
A week or so later I got an email from Adam. He wanted to thank me because he'd never had any contact with his biological family. He's 83 and until he heard from David he'd thought they all died in the holocaust.
I just... I'm so happy for him and David (and all their families) and that I was able to get them together.
It's almost Yuletide time, I'm less happy with my writing output this year than usual, but the last several months were just a wash for me (I didn't manage to write a single thing for Trick-or-Treat) so I guess it's not surprising. *sigh*

The One-Body Problem by Metisket (28k)
Summary: The good news is that Lan Jingyi has found a mentor, friend, and constant companion through the difficulties in life.The bad news is that that’s because he’s been accidentally possessed by the Yiling Patriarch. (set pre-MXY's sacrifice spell, Jingyi's POV and asides are hilarious and WWX's mental commentary is great. Wonderful read)
The Life Cycle of the Frog and the Fish by Aerlalaith (53k)
Summary: “Huh,” Wei Wuxian said finally. He was staring at the guy’s face, lips parted. “He’s kind of…” he tilted his head. “Hot?” “Don’t you dare,” said Jiang Cheng, “try and sleep with the random hobo we found sleeping in a haunted fucking cave.”(Reincarnation has its pitfalls.) (Really well done AU, but not AU, modern reincarnation plus cultivation fic)
Yunmeng Jiang Cats series by Kakushigo (4 works, 6k total)
Series Summary: In which the Yunmeng Jiang clan has cats. Because they have cats, things go differently (sometimes better, sometimes worse). (Really, really interesting how the cats affect things because they are just cats that live at Lotus Pier, but there's a mythos that's built up around them so mean so much more)

Summary: The fic where Wei Wuxian is adopted by the Dafan Mountain Wens instead of the Yunmeng Jiang. (Really really interesting AU and I love WWX's relationship with WQ and WN as his siblings in this. Also a really great look at Meng Yao)

She was terrified, injured and, most importantly, alone. She does not know what has happened to Wei Ying. No one does. (really well thought out daemon AU with great world building)

Summary: Nie Huaisang and Nie Mingjue get into an argument over paintbrushes. The effect this has on the cultivation world is staggering. (NHS sort of accidentally saves everything, I love it)
The Once and Future Yiling Patriarch by DarkPhantom (PhantomFlutist) (series, 4 fics, 39k total)
Summary for first fic: The memories are still fragments, for the most part. Smells or sounds or a ghostly touch. A few times, a word. A name on his lips, strangled and unidentifiable by the time he's given it voice. And one sentence, just one, in a voice so deep it resonates in the deepest part of his chest. "Wei Ying, come back to Gusu with me." (great immortal cultivator and also reincarnation combination series, loved the world building and seeing all the characters who show up)
