I have signed up for the bronze challenge at paliphrase  where you write in for the same prompt in ten different fandoms.  *eep*  I chose the prompt "pensive" because I can write deep, thinky stories... but ten fandoms?  What was I thinking?!?!?

Oh noes! I can imagine that it must have been terrible :( I mean. I shuddered at the prospect - and I actually like mpreg. If it's well written, that is. And covers the reasons why I like it - which none of the mpreg in NCIS fandom does, really.
.. As a matter of fact, I only ever read.. well, maybe two or three mpreg stories that covered those reasons *headdesk*

mpreg isn't a favorite of mine. In scifi it can vaguely work, but when its NCIS and they don't change anything in the universe other than randomly adding in the 'oh yeah, guys can get pregnant' and then don't explain any of the how (I read one where Tony refused to get a c-section and Gibbs was afraid he'd die in childbirth and I kept thinking, where the hell is Tony pushing the baby? how's it's going to get out?)

I don't like what you're describing at all, either. That's just wrong. I like mpreg for one reason and under one condition. The condition being that it doesn't focus on the physical aspect of it or, if it does, makes them believable. The reason is that male pregnancy is not, in no case, something a character would ever experience normally and it puts one hell of a lot of pressure on the character. I might have a thing for putting pressure on characters, stripping them bare of all protective layers and waiting to see if they break (and if so, if someone will put them back together and how) and mpreg does that. At least the kind of mpreg I like. Of which there really isn't a lot out there, I'll admit. But when I think of mpreg, I think of that - psychological and emotional pressure on two men and one of them especially. It's interesting to see them deal with it. That's what I like about it. It's such an unusual situation for a man to be in. And, sure. Unrealistic as hell. But. It affects them mentally, physically, it's not something they can escape. I like that.

I see what you mean with that. That's why it can work in scifi- because it's gets around all the 'how' and 'huh' with a bit of technobabble or whatever. BUT no turning the characters into emo-whiners please.

Oh God, no! I hate the emo-whining. In mpregs and in general. No, the fic has to stay true to the characters, otherwise it's no fun. I'm not the best writer, but this (http://community.livejournal.com/shorikurai/13203.html) comes close to what I mean about mpreg. I'd rec you someone else's stuff, but I'm sure you've already read Becky's Never Doing That Again and the only other two good mpregs that would underline my point are from Supernatural which I think you don't watch?

I love Supernatural a lot. Haven't watched it in quite some time 'cause there's just no way for me to get the episodes :( But I love the fandom (even though it makes me read and write incest, which, just... uhm, no. not my kind of thing. I ignore the fact that they're brothers a lot).

He's hot as hell. I'm more of a Jared Padalecki fan, though. And the two of them have completely converted me to liking RPS.

I watched... the first few episodes. And then they changed the stupid law and now I'm not downloading stuff anymore 'cause of that law and, uhm. So I haven't actually watched any of season two (or even the end of season one) and Alec only appears in S2, doesn't he? *tilts head*

He's in one episode of S1. But not as Alec. As one of the X-5s that escaped. he was introduced as Alec in S2.

I'm glad you've seen the beginning of the series since the Logan/Jack story I'm writing is set during the first episode- so you'll know enough to be able to read it.

Ah, but I'm good at reading fanfiction at all times. I mean. I've been reading Lindsey McDonald fanfiction the last few days without ever having watched a single episode of Angel. Looked up what I need to understand on wikipedia and the rest came together after the first few stories *bounces*
.. Only works when one's not spoiler-phobic, though. Which I'm definitely not.
Hell. I only started watching NCIS because I like Tony in fanfiction. There's fandoms I'm in where I haven't ever seen a single episode of the actual show. It works out, somehow *shrugs*

I'm definitely looking forward to reading your Logan/Jack story *beams*

I'm not sure I could read fanfic without having watched the show at all. Although, I have to admit, I like "House" fanfic better than the show, but I have seen a bunch of episodes.

I can and I have and I will - and I like it. It does take a character to catch my eye, but once that's done? It's easy. Like, I started reading Lindsey fiction 'cause I like Chris Kane so much and I talked to unfeathered and she told me a few of the pictures I'd made icons from where actually from the show, Angel, and that sort of triggered it. And I started reading NCIS fiction 'cause one girl, luthien82 asked for Tony icons - I'd never heard of Tony at that point - and I looked him up and thought he was pretty and ended up reading fiction and that convinced me to watch the show. I really do that a lot. I think it's mainly because, hell. I can't just turn on the TV and watch a show and decide if I like it or not. I have to go out of my way to be able to watch any show at all (since I refuse to watch German TV, but it's not my fault that it's just so ridiculously bad, is it?), so it's much easier to read fanfiction first *waves hand around vaguely* If that makes sense?
