crafting, recs and nomnomnominations
It's Yuletide nomination time! And I... have no idea what to nom. I think I'm going to give up on at least one of my regulars (two not on AO3 and no fandom presence at all lasted-less-than-a-season US tv shows that I've been nomming and requesting for probably about 5 years now) but I don't know which, if any, Cdramas I should nom or if I should pick some tiny, weird short story or something. Decisions, decisions.
My scraps bag of random rug making bits and bobs was overflowing so I pulled out all the useable stuff and sorted it by similarness (the sheet strips which are wider and flat vs the tshirt strips which curl into almost tube-like 'yarn') and spent the last few weeks making two rugs:
36” by 22" (91.5cm by 56cm) The red and almost white were from various parts of the somewhat failed rug experiment I posted about in April, not sure what all the pink was from.
This one was smaller, 23.5" x 14.5", most of the dark gray/black, including the entire runner, was stuff leftover from the big rug I finished in July but what's neat is the runner was nearly entirely this weirdly thick border the sheet had that wouldn't really have worked for the knots so I was going to toss but it worked just fine as the runner. The tie-dye bit was from a shirt I dyed in *college* probably about 30 years ago that didn't fit anymore so I turned into 'tshirt yarn' and then never used.

Forced into cautious friendship by a four-year-old's music lessons, Lan Zhan soon realises Wei Ying is more than he seems. The single father is a man of many secrets – including, perhaps, the key to Lan Zhan's life's work. And in the meantime, the background resentment in Caiyi Town is rising to dangerous levels… (this recently completed modern cultivation AU fic brilliantly weaves a story of LWJ, who is trying to recreate the Lan's lost musical cultivation techniques via carefully monitored research trials, and WWX, a Caiyi Municipal Cultivation Department worker who seems to have more skills than he should.)

Then's Summary: Hanguang-Jun is infinitely, utterly and heart-breakingly sad. (a look at LWJ after WWX's death- After through LWJ's POV and Then's through LSZ's. Raw and sad but real.)

Summary: Two planets and what seems like six lifetimes later, Wei Ying thinks he’s still floating. It’s not that he does nothing! He works part-time at a private cultivation school on the outskirts of Caiyi, and tutors students regularly, and picks up substitute jobs at the public schools whenever he can. He has a slightly haunted apartment. He messages Wen Qing and Wen Ning on Yiling all the time and his sister calls him once a month if the intersystem voicecomms are working. He stays busy. Only sometimes, in his dreams, he sees Yunmeng as if from a shuttle window; the cloudy blue sphere receding into the dark expanse of space as they pull away. (an intriguing story and the world building in this space!AU is absolutely incredible)

- Here’s a little Merthur doodle I did. (Merlin and Arthur from s5e1, so much more than just a little "doodle")
- A Merlin and Arthur Hug (so much emotion in this one)
- Two loves I have, of comfort and despair/ Which like two spirits do suggest me still (gorgeous and wistful Merlin)
- I love AU with an alternative first meeting and I love even more when Merlin is a powerful sorcerer/druid/God/whatever and Arthur fall in love at first sight. (perfect and delightful comic for this AU)
- Merlin, Redesigned (a gorgeous, redesigned take on Merlin and his powers)
Guardian - A kiss, Shen Wei and Zhao Yunlan (so tender)
Word of Honor (vid) - Where Is My Love? – WenZhou Reincarnation AU (incredibly well done combining of clips from WoH, The Blooms at Ruyi Pavilion and Begin Again)

It doesn't help that I've been running across people writing about nominating things I want to nominate (\o/) but they're not nominating any of the characters I want in the tag set (/o\)

(the absolute worst being when only 2 of the character slots were used so they could have easily nominated the desired characters but they didn't ask/post/whatever to let the empty slots be filled by someone else interested)

Don't get me wrong, I can't fault them for their choice, it's just now a case of do I want to nominate this canon as well just to get these other two characters in to make up the groupings I'm interested in when they might be the only other person interested in this canon?
