it's march!
A few weeks ago I had one of those days where everything went sideways - I poured hot water into my favorite tea mug and it randomly cracked and broke, I put on my winter coat and when I slung my pocketbook over my shoulder the outer shell tore there. I went to put the saucepan on the stove and the handle came off.
I was going to go on a Everything Is Made So Shitty These Days rants before I realized I could fix the saucepan (the screw came out and was right there so I could just screw it back in), my winter coat was at least 10 (but probably more like 15 or 20) years old and the mug was the one I accidentally acquired from the coffee shop next to my college 30 years ago (they had tables outside but you were supposed to bring your mugs and whatnot inside but they'd closed). Generally speaking, stuff still is made pretty cheaply and shitty these days, but I can't really complain about the lifespan of those particular things.
On an actual SIGH note though - discord hotlinking now has about a 2 week time limit. So I spent a week trying to find and backup all the 150 or so images I'd made for EAD Birthday Bashes and Battleship arts. I shifted what I could find to squidge which, while not terrible stable at least supposedly will continue to work. I also saved everything to the wayback machine. It *does* work to just use wayback machine's image links but I don't know how great an idea that is. Using tumblr is still an option as well and some of my earliest stuff is still hotlinked from there but who knows how long tumblr will last (and also, oddly, as of a few years ago the wayback machine won't capture tumblr images, tumblr text posts, yes, but not any images).
I'm not going to bother trying to relink all the crafting and cooking images I've posted to dreamwidth though, I don't think it's too much of an issue since I doubt anyone backscrolls through my blog for that kind of thing. Anyone who wants to see pictures that have gone poof is more than welcome to comment on any particular post and I can repost the image.
That said, I did finally finish the dragon scales afghan I started last June, 3 jumbo skeins, 3.5k yards of yarn and is about 65"x43"(ish?) and I'm just going to use hotlinked discord images since I haven't found anywhere else for non-fannish linking yet.
I can't decide which side I like more

and a picture where's its folded in half to compare the front and back easier

And now I need a new project. (Besides the plastic bag rug I'm probably about 3/4rds of the way finished with)
Signups for the h/c exchange just opened. Decisions, decisions. I'll probably just pick and choose bits and bobs from previous years' exchanges but I'm debating also asking for Dong Lan Xue, even though I know it's a request that'll never get filled.
Last but not least, here's this week's
recthething recs (two MDZS/Untamed fics):
Keeping secrets by Winxhelina (8.5k)
Summary Snippet: "Zewu-jun, there is a young woman with a child here to see you."
"A woman?" he asks distractedly from the disciple bowing in front of him. He doesn't remember agreeing to see anyone. He has declined visits for days now. Lan Xichen isn't expecting anyone. Well, that's a lie. He's only expecting one person, the one who might be able to help him now, the dreaded Yiling Patriarch, Wei Wuxian. (LWJ is cursed and only WWX can help, but that means truths will come out)
Anonymous Hero by NeverEnoughWangxian (5k)
Summary: Lan Sizhui and Lan Jingyi start noticing a mysterious man who keeps assisting in their cases, using talismans they've never seen before, and then fleeing the scene. What's even stranger is the fact that their team leader, Lan Wangji, seems to know who he is. (delightful modern-with-cultivation fic)

Never say never! You got plenty of us to watch this recently!
I'm on the fence about h/c ex myself, but I am also an enabler :)

The tagset for h/c ex is amazing, you should at least give it a poke. There's not that many signups in Cdramas I know yet, but it's still the early days. (You can check to see signup here -which gets updated a few times a day- or the requests summary on AO3)
