TW 2x13- a powerful finale

Overall a terribly powerful episode.  It had some problems, some unexpected solutions and several big bangs.

I'm very glad they made the quick mention of Tosh filling in for Owen for the pig-alien from DW S1.  That was a nice touch by the writers to fix a previous plot problem.

I had assumed Owen was getting the heave-ho in one way or another this episode, but I hadn't expected Tosh to leave too.  Her death shocked me.  And why wasn't there a glowy kiss of life?  Jack hasn't done one all season- have the writers forgotten about it?

Jack's sanity is amazing, and a bit unrealistic.  As is whatever fabrics his coat and shirt and pants are made of, damn it.  Really, after nearly 2000 years in the dirt and Jack's sanity AND clothes are intact?  Rather unlikely.

I *love* the John twist (he's not a twirl mustache crazy bad guy, but being forced to do what he's done)... but was a bit saddened by the Grey one.

I'm confused about Grey calling him "Jack" before skewering him, especially after "Adam" and how they were careful NOT to name him as a kid.  Are we to believe his first name actually IS Jack?

Gwen's performance was excellent- I loved her in the police station taking charge.

I'm a bit confused how the Weevils were 'trained' to take out the people in charge though- did John do that and we just didn't see it?

I'll also admit that in a way I'm glad the season's over.  Although it's unlikely things will calm down much considering DW's starting up immediately, but with luck at least some of the rabid fanwank and shipwarfare will die down.  I'm looking forward to a time I can have a comm other than [profile] torchwood_meta on my Flist and not be overwhelmed by the insanity and backstabbing for in the posts there.

Well, I'm not really sure. If you can find the system profile, it should tell you all that stuff, but I wouldn't really know where to look on a computer that's not a Mac.

hmm, I'm going to have to play around and see if I can figure it out

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
That's probably the best way.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 02:14 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that wouldn't be good.

I'm always a little paranoid that something will happen and I'll lose all my WIPs and pictures and everything

I finally started backing up all my important stuff (like my homework) on a jump drive.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
*nods* that would be the logical thing to do.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 02:25 am (UTC)(link)
Eventually, I'll get an external hard drive, and I'll be able to back a lot more.

I'll never be organized enough to do that sort of stuff

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
every so often I email myself all the stories I'm working on so I can look at them when I'm at work... but half the time I forget.

And I never remember to back up my photos. If I remembered to take them in the first place

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 02:57 am (UTC)(link)
I usually put the important photos up on Photobucket. That place really comes in handy.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 02:58 am (UTC)(link)
doesn't photobucket randomly erase things occasionally?

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Only if you go over your bandwidth, which, unless the purpose of your account is to post each and every photo you upload on-line, is really hard to do.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't know that. Maybe I'll try that.

(Yeah right, and maybe I'll actually start that diet I've been talking about)

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
LOL...well at least you know, now.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 03:15 am (UTC)(link)
I've also thought about uploading pictures to LJ and using the albums available here

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Those give me so much grief.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
oh, so never mind then (not that I'd ever get off my lazy butt to backup my stuff anyway)

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's fine if you establish, like, one set album and upload pretty much everything to there. If you forget to designate an album when uploading, though, the pictures have a habit of disappearing.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
It's really fun if you actually want to delete them.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 03:27 am (UTC)(link)
I can imagine. Or if you aren't sure you marked them private or public.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-04-07 03:29 am (UTC)(link)
That, too.
