I hang my head in shame

Today was National Donut Day in America. National Donut Day.  A day to celebrate donuts.  70th year of celebrating it....

And I had no idea.  None.  Whatsoever.  I'm so ashamed.

Such an important foodstuff deserves its own day. But then again, so does chocolate, and ice cream and coffee and ....

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 03:32 pm (UTC)(link)
... What about peppermint tea? I like peppermint tea!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 03:33 pm (UTC)(link)
hmmm... not sure it deserves it's own day though- what about tea in general?

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 03:37 pm (UTC)(link)
... agreed. but strawberries get their own day! as do rasberries. please?

Ooh "Very Merry Berry Day!" What do you think?

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 03:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That's good, yeah.

... What about other food? Steak? Apples? Pie? Milkshakes? There could be a Fruity Friday!

hmmm, if we keep this up there'll be something to celebrate every day of the year

although, come to think of it, that wouldn't be such a bad thing....

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
There's nothing wrong with celebrating every day of the year. On the other hand, the celebration might lose it's status of being something special. That would be sad.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
hmmm, now that is a very good point

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 03:52 pm (UTC)(link)
There should be no more than three days of celebration a week, I think *nods*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
*nods* yes, yes *takes notes* and...

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
... Think there should be a fiction day, too? And a fanart day? And a "happy fandom day"?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 03:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh I love the idea of "Happy Fandom Day"

I've been vaguely considering trying to get a "Fanfic Appreciation Day" or something like that going, where the idea is you go back to a favorite story, something you've recommended or read over and over and leave a note to the author telling them that.

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 04:02 pm (UTC)(link)
That's an absolutely awesome idea. It shold totally be done.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I was thinking about it the other day when I was reading something for the zillionth time. I'd never left a comment becausr it was posted ages ago and then I started thinking, that's dumb, who cares when it was posted if the LJ is still active, wouldn't the author love to know how much the story is still enjoyed?

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I know that, though. I think a lot of people do that; not commenting because the story was written ages ago. But your point is very much true *nods*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 04:09 pm (UTC)(link)
or even if you commented when it was first put up, if you've come back tons of times since then, wouldn't that be nice to tell the author too?

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
It totally would be! It would be really fantastic!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-06-07 04:15 pm (UTC)(link)
It would be so cool to encourage people to do that, not in any sort of "do it on X day" thing necessarily, but like as a challenge- go make an author or vidders day sort of thing...

Leave a comment, brighten someone's day.

something like that
