Arguing Semantics

According to the advertisement the local supermarket had cantaloupes on sale, but I didn't see them anywhere.  So I asked a person working in the produce section where the cantaloupes would be.  He pointed to a large bin.  I went and looked, but the bin was empty.  I went back and said to him "there aren't any cantaloupes there!"  to which he responded, "Well, you asked where the cantaloupes would be.  That's where the cantaloupes would be if we had any, but we don't, we're all out."

I did not expect a lesson in semantics at 10 at night in the grocery store!

Yeah, now I think we're even.

depends- what kind of ipod? A shuffle or a real one? (and how much did you have to drink?)

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know, yet. That part is a surprise. I doubt it's a shuffle, though. (And approx. 1 shot of Jager per every two other drinks I've ever had while visiting him...which is a LOT of booze).

oh my. I'd have been on the floor before very long

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
I've NEVER puked when I've gone drinking with him. I'm a bit proud of that.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I've actually never puked either. Gotten silly, sure. Sleepy, yes. But never puked. But then again, when the room's spinning I usually stop drinking

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I've puked a couple times, one of them being the Jager incident, the other being high school. Otherwise, I'm usually pretty good at cutting myself off before I get too sick or stupid.

Running out of money helps too

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 06:39 pm (UTC)(link)
That, too. Although I don't usually have that problem...the perils of going out to drink with your family.

or with credit card. *nods*

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, man...those be dangerous when you're drinking.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 06:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Here, you often need one to start a tab.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Here, a lot of places won't take them.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
won't take credit cards, why not? worry over them being stolen?

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not sure. I think it's something to do with the amount of people they get in each night. A lot of them will only take cash, but most of them have ATMs right inside.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 09:54 pm (UTC)(link)
interesting. Here they like credit cards because people will charge more than if they are handing over cash. But then again, maybe it's the type of bar. The ones I've been to are more the sit down in one place type

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 10:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I've been to a lot more club-type bars.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I suppose the cash only option makes much more sense there- pay as you go

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-07-08 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I imagine.
