The wolf whined softly, pawing the dead man.
“Don’t worry Diefenbaker, Jack will be alright.” Fraser sat down next to his two friends, one furry and the other growing cold. “Eventually.”
Dief only huffed in response.
Fraser absentmindedly petted the wolf, trying to comfort him before brushing a lock of hair off Jack’s forehead. Blue eyes shot open, blinking rapidly.
“Benton?” Jack asked, weakly.
“Right here, Jack.” Fraser helped his friend into a sitting position while Diefenbaker barked enthusiastically.
“Remind me not to do that again.” Jack shifted, losing his balance and falling into Fraser’s arms, where he happily stayed.
