This is my babble, let me show it to you....
I've been giving a lot of thought to the comment numbers people have been posting and how I'm the top commentator on so many LJs.
Some made sense- I'm certainly guilty of the occasional (or not so occasional) commentfest with some people- like
_medley_ and
mad_jaks and
unfeathered but others honestly did surprise me, especially on some journals where I was pretty sure I hadn't done much other than squee and comment on stories and answer memes and offer hugs when needed.
If someone on my f-list writes something, and I know the fandom, I read it. And usually comment on it. If they're doing a meme and I can participate intelligently, I do. I thought everyone did that. But, then I looked at my own list of commentators and the list of those who have friended me and who I've friended back (which I'm terrible at remembering to do, I'll admit that) and how many times various people had commented and realized that, no, few people do. Which sort of surprised me.
Commenting in journals is not a two way street. Just because I comment in your LJ doesn't mean I expect you to comment in mine. I'm a little shocked and embarrassed about the numbers that have come about by people doing this meme, but I've decided not to let it affect me. If I like your writing I don't plan on stopping telling you so. If you're down I'm not about to quit trying to cheer you up and if you're in need of donuts I will continue to offer them. I hope that's okay with everyone. If not, just let me know, I promise not to be offended.

The fact that you comment so much is not a bad thing at all - it's a wonderful thing, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! I would love to be able to comment as much as you do.

I don't have that problem so much online as I do face to face, and the way I see it if I've written a post you can read then I'm soliciting comments, but I try and respect that it's more difficult for some people. I have been in danger of taking it personally at times, but I take everything personally. :)
Also, just so there are no misunderstandings: I don't write fic or make icons or post any great amount of content. I realize this is going to result in a different relationship with the other fannish people I like. That's OK.

There's loads of stuff I would NEVER have written if I hadn't partaken in a commentfest with you. Ideas that have sparked and grown in the dim reccesses of my brain simply because I've spotted you and Medley have commentfested overnight while I was asleep.
And, come to that days - especially recently - I would simply not have got through without you being there when I've got home at lunchtime to offer me support.
Short version Next time I do a comment check I expect to find you still right there leading the pack. Or Else!

but, be honest, you're always a little afraid the evil club's going to gang up on you....

Uhm. I think. I think everyone loves the comments. At least I do. A-and I usually try and comment on every entry I can in any way relate to on my flist, but lately haven't and. I'm sorry!
You're right, though. It isn't really a two way street. Sometimes, that makes me sad.

and you've school and vacations and things which makes it hard to comment. RL can be a killer to LJ!

Considering I'm pretty outgoing in real life, I'm terrifyingly shy online, and generally assume people won't want to hear what I've got to say. It's something I'm working on - I shall take you as my inspiration.
And don't you dare stop commenting! *clings*

So I'm very glad to hear that you have no intention of stopping.
Here, have some chocolate. You can sprinkle it on your donuts.

I know that in my journal, you're always friendly and fun and cheerleading and comforting and feedbacking and handing out donuts. The fact that you're top on so many people's lists just means that you're over there in their journals doing the same thing, and that is BRILLIANT. I said in my journal that I think you deserve some kind of Appreciation Award from fandom.
Also, it makes me very happy when there's commentfests in my journal, whether I'm participating in them or not. I read the stuff you and
So, don't change a thing! We love you...just the way you are! /Bridget Jones' friends

I do this as much as I can, but sometimes I am limited by time availability. It seems I'm always a little bit behind, and I feel a little bad about that. I'd like to be able to comment *more*. :) But I know that people who don't, probably have the same problem I do, and people who do, are probably more efficient than me, and I appreciate them!
