Hurray for customer service ineptitude

I was on the phone with the customer service of a very fancy jewelry company earlier today to return a present my daughter got.  Their policy is that, since the bracelet arrived broken, shipping is free within the US.

"Where do you live, Ma'am?"

"Minnesota."

"I'm afraid that will require international shipping charges then."

"Why?  It's a state."

"A state of what?"

*headdesk*

Bilis was kind of awesome. Did you ever read the novel that had him in it?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 04:29 pm (UTC)(link)
No I haven't. I read 2 of the earlier books (of the four originally released) and was pretty unhappy with both so I haven't bothered with the newer books. Is it good?

I've kind of noticed it's something of a fan favorite. It's the one called "The Twilight Streets". I wasn't quite as impressed as everyone else, but Bilis is so fun. Plus, Ianto rips Gwen a new one, so that alone made the whole thing worth my time.

well, my library has it so I put in a request for it- can't hurt to try reading it anyway. thanks. (and Ianto ripping into Gwen wasn;t remotely a reason for checking it out. really)

Definitely can't hurt if it's free. (It's a fantastic moment, and she totally deserved it.)

free is my favorite price!

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here! And you just reminded me that I still have a free coffee voucher.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-13 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG free coffee!!! USE IT!

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
I most definitely will...and I will get the biggest coffee possible.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
with an extra shot of espresso too?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
only probably? I'm shocked

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
*phew* now that's more like it

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
It would be pretty pointless not to, I suppose, considering I get my absolute drink of choice with this thing.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
absolutely! So what'll it be?

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-14 06:12 am (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking the biggest Peppermint Mocha humanly possible.

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
I knew you'd appreciate the idea.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
why are there no peppermint mochas in MN?!?! it's no fair!

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
I don't really understand that, because peppermint syrup is really not that difficult to acquire. I mean, Starbucks make their own, so they have to wait for corporate to ship them out, but everyone else could just order some.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
well, if you're going to be logical about it! :)

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2008-11-15 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
LOL, yeah, I know. Logic does not apply to all.
