Just saw the Doctor Who Christmas special.

Nonspoilerly reaction is- I think I enjoyed it more than I've like DW in a long, long time.  Although.... *facepalms* at effects.  The creature-things (face of badguy, body of I'm not sure what)  were what I would have expected back in the days of the first or second Doctor. 

In the musical "Annie" the not nice woman running the orphanage is Miss Hannigan, I assume the similariaty in name was planned?

I almost want to find a screencap of those creatures (did they *ever* get a name?) just to make fun of them in an icon but even I'm not sure I could come up with something witty to say about then

I don't think they did get a name. I like that idea, though. I'm sure you could come up with something eventually. Or, you know, just let this conversation continue and I'm sure we'll say something icon worthy.

My first reaction was, "Oh, look it's a cyberdog...oh, wait, no...cybermonkey? Uh, did they just put a cyber mask on a mop? WTF?"

And then I was too busy cheering on Rosita with the axe to think much more about it until they appeared later.
