Major thanks to whomever it was that nominated Perpetuity for a Children of Time award! It was a very hard story to write so I'm really happy it resonated enough with someone for them to nominate it! :)

I hate the episode for the canon issues it brings up (Tony knows NOTHING about movies in it) but OMG that scene. *sighs again*

Yeah, that was before they figured out that Tony Knows All Things Cinema. :-) It was early. I give a show a few free passes for the first few eps on things like that.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah- there's always the issue of getting the characters to the place where they are supposed to be. Besides, it's not like NCIS was ever a stickler for canon (OMG Fornell the first episode, he has no idea who Gibbs is... yet he married Gibbs' second ex-wife?)

But iguana-scared Tony is a thing to behold. As is Tony dancing with Paula.

Right! I greatly prefer the history we now know of between Gibbs and Fornell. But Yankee White couldn't have happened the way it did had they known what *we* already knew and that is that Joe Spano is made of win.

I caught an episode of Hill Street Blues the other night and OMG, HENRY!!!! Talk about the UnFornell. ;-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Joe Spano is absolutely made of win. I haven't seen Hill Street in AGES though. Oh, but he was on NYPD Blue some. I liked him as a washed up detective he really sold the role.

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
He was so *eager* in Hill Street. I adore Joe Spano. I've yet to see him in anything I didn't like him in.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:33 am (UTC)(link)
He's the kind that really immerses himself in the character- really makes it work

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
there are NOT enough actors like that

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
I'm just glad we've got a batch of them on NCIS. ;-) Mark Harmon's the same way.

Oh, and that reminds me, SciFi is doing a Dark Angel marathon on Wednesday, I think. I find it interesting that it ends just in time for the USA NCIS run. :-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:46 am (UTC)(link)
with an hour to spare. the scifi marathons usually end at 3 and NCIS starts at 4. Is it S2 Dark Angel? I've seen all the episodes tons of times. MW in stubble and those glasses? *sighs happily*

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:53 am (UTC)(link)
I have no idea which season.

I don't usually care for stubble, but man, he wears it well. ;-)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 05:55 am (UTC)(link)
I looked it up, end of S2, he's hair's more floppy and less sexy by then. Oh well. I'll probably watch it anyway though.

In general, I hate how scifi does their week days. Give me a show that runs every day at X time and show the episodes in order, please. That way I can really get to know and like a show and get a true feel for it. I hate this random show being thrown on and not even showing the 6 episodes in order necessarily.

I'm just glad they occasionally show something other than really, *really*, idiotic 'reality' shows.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 06:10 am (UTC)(link)
oh I HATE those with a fiery passion. Although, I like being able to click on at a certain time and know what I'll be watching. I rarely even click scifi on during the day anymore because I dont think about it, there's no show I know will be on to draw me there. And if they do happen to be showing something I like it'll wind up being some section I've seen 50 million times or can't stand.

I long for the days of All SG-1, All The Time. :-) They've got TEN seasons of that sitting around and they hardly ever show it. Instead we get Ghost Facers Hunters or some other similar crap.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 03:27 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes! although it is back on once a day at least. What I find weird is scifi channel has SO many shows they made and never show. Invisible Man was great! Secret Adventures of Jules Verne- steampunk ftw! And Eureka is still getting new episodes- but they never never show them.

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I really miss Eureka! What is *with* these idiots?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't know!

I do give them credit for buying shows that got canceled off other networks, lasting even less than a season and showing them. If you ever have a chance to see "Threshold" or "All Saints" or "Haunted" you should. All canceled well before their time. I just don't understand why they don't show their OWN shows!

We just have to keep reminding ourselves that these are the same geniuses who think wrestling is desired programming for SF fans.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
oh yeah- and it's actually getting them good ratings. *shudders*
ext_3440: (Default)

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 04:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yeah, the wrestling morons follow it wherever it goes. Doesn't mean it they watch anything else on the channel, though. And yes, there probably is some crossover, just like there's crossover for other types of programming. I just can't imagine it's bringing new viewers for anything but that.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
all I know is that it followed Eureka and I JUMPED to change the channel. Most of the time I'm more lackadaisical about doing that.

[identity profile] tejas.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 04:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here. No way did I want to see even a second of it. It's repulsive.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-01-25 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
there's this commercial for it a few minutes before the end of eureka- once or twice I'd accidentally turn it off then, thinking it had started.
