The Baby Shower

Title: The Baby Shower
Pairing/Rating/Warning: none, rated G
Word Count: 100
Summary: Jack and Ianto discuss the idea of throwing a baby shower
Author's Note: Written for [profile] fandom_me  who wanted a story where Jack was celebrating something, I hope planning the celebration instead is okay...

“A baby shower, Ianto, that’s what we need to do!  We need to throw her a baby shower!”

“A baby shower, Sir?”

“Sure!  Why not?  She’d love it.  Everyone loves a baby shower!”

“But... a baby shower?”

“Come on, it’ll be fun.  It’ll give us a chance to spruce up the place...”

“Spruce up, Sir?”

“We’ll scrub this place till it shines!  Maybe hang some decorations...”

“Decorations, Sir?”

“Of course decorations!  Baby showers need decorations!  It’s tradition!!”

“I wasn’t aware that there were traditions regarding pterodactyls, Sir”

“Very funny.  You can be such a spoilsport, Ianto.”

“Just being practical, Sir.”

It stings - it can't not stings. And seriously, what a royal ASS. Who the hell does that - Well, nevermind, clearly some anonymous dick without a life.

One was a five paragraph dissertation! I don't understand, if you don't like me as an author. don't read my stuff! Especially the timestamp drabbles and this one which weren't even posted anywhere. *sigh*

It is really, really, strange that you're being singled out like that. Hopefully the disabling of anon comments will make them stop - at the very least you'll be able to figure out who they are so you can smack them into next week.

Criticism is one thing. Being nasty is another. They're firmly on the side of nasty.

not sure how/why they latched onto me. The first flame was on my vidfic 'how death comes' saying it was inane and trite and did I get the idea out of a grade school primer or something like that, then on my recent squirrel crack!fic about how I portrayed Owen and didn't treat him like the rapist he was.. and then they got weirder. *sigh* thanks for the help (and listening to the whine) hopefully they'll stop now.

*HUGS* Whine any time, that's just ridiculous and bitchy and well worth whinning about. The anonymous aspect just makes it more frustrating. Anyway, yes. *crosses everything*

thanks. If I can't get it out of my system I may make a full post about it. *hopefully* the problem's solved now.

I'd make the post, honestly. Drawing attention to the problem's probably the best thing you can do - especially since it looks like it's happening to others.

Good point. I'll do it when I get home from work and will hopefully be a little less emotional about it all.

*wraps around you* Good plan.

If it's any consolation, one of my team's jobs is to deal with persistent nutters who ring the council - and believe me, some of them are *really* nasty. What we have found is that the ones who are the most unbelievable are usually pretty housebound - it seems to somehow go together.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-07 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe they're bored and have nothing else to do?

[identity profile] hellenebright.livejournal.com 2007-11-07 12:19 am (UTC)(link)
That's pretty much what we concluded...also it often seemed to be at the same time of the day - when there was nothing on tv, or the home help had gone, or they were due another dose of meds....

One of the old boys who used to ring me was so ferocious that I'd have called the police if it wasn't that I knew he walked with two sticks and an oxygen cylinder. Another inhabited a caravan in the middle of a field. Another rings us at 3am and leaves screamed abuse and threats on the voicemail. Obviously she can't sleep.

We have a few regulars like that where I work (a social services sort of agency/community center) they call like clockwork. I guess it was only a matter of time to run into them online too

[identity profile] hellenebright.livejournal.com 2007-11-07 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
You got it. And they *do* latch on to one individual and drive them batty, then go on to someone else. It's a behaviour pattern I've seen before.

I'm almost think of turning back on anonmyous posting but keeping IP logging so I can snag it when they do another attack post

[identity profile] hellenebright.livejournal.com 2007-11-07 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Depends whether you think you can do anything about it I suppose.

[identity profile] taffimai.livejournal.com 2007-11-06 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)
I was talking to someone else on IM who's also been getting nasty anon comments. So it doesn't look like you're the only one, if that helps at all.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2007-11-06 10:51 pm (UTC)(link)
It sort of does, thanks. I'm sorry someone else is going through this though. *sigh* I guess the internet makes it so easy to act like that
