Fortune Cookie

We went out for Chinese food tonight. The fortune read:

Promote literacy. Buy a box of fortune cookies.

I feel vaguely cheated.

..because your sarcasm dectector had been stolen by the writer of the fortune? *...*

It was just so wrong... it wasn't cryptic or silly and there were no lucky number or anything *laughs*

*cracks up* Now, that is not fair.

Not at ALL

And it doesn't even work with the old "in bed" addition!

*thinks about promoting literacy in bed* There's potential there. I'm a pushover for the Doctor tracing Gallifreyan onto someone's back in bed.

ooooh... yes, literacy in bed works. Buying fortune cookies, not so much.

although it does send the brain into some interesting places with euphemisms....

O.0 best not to go there.

What'd I say?

[identity profile] travels-in-time.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"Hey, where'd you get the fortune cookies?"

"Believe me, you do NOT wanna know."

*dies*

Thanks for the LOL moment before bed.

And in the realm of "to much torchwood" I was thinking of Ianto getting that fortune with the lunch. Because, of course, he knows everything (because he reads).

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
*hee* yes, it would fit him well!

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Aw, a lot of fortunes are really dumb, but they're not supposed to have advertising in!

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
The cookies were good at least! Actually, the food was great. We had planned on going to Olive Garden (daughter's favorite restaurant) but it was packed so we went to this little local Chinese food place on a whim instead. Very glad we did. Nothing against the big chains, but mom and pop places are always so nice.

[identity profile] rustydog.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, they are! I'm glad you had a good meal and good cookies. :)

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
And, even better, there are leftovers! No cooking dinner tomorrow! WOOHOO!!!

LOL! I got one one time that was "Buy the red car". I always felt cheated by that one. It wasn't so much a fortune as a command.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 03:13 am (UTC)(link)
Oh dear. I wonder what it had against blue cars?

[identity profile] kensieg.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
maybe it was communist?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
*snickers* You might be onto something

[identity profile] kensieg.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
love your icon! I normally associate red with communist.

Wow, that's not fair at all. I save many of my fortunes and they can be found in various drawers, as bookmarks, what have you. That one would not be saved.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
I used to save mine too. Lost them a few moves back I think. Actually, daughter claimed it. She thought it was hysterical

I find it funny though...

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-02-23 07:05 am (UTC)(link)
funny, but not a real fortune!
