Things I learned yesterday...

If a kid comes running in from outside cupping something in their hands and asks if you'd like to see the answer is not only "no" but also "take it back outside this instant."

Despite appearances, salad dressing bottles do not make good lightsabers.

Salad dressing does come off windows with some elbow grease. However, it does not come off ceilings easily.

Oddly enough, the cat does not like to wear shorts on his head.

Your daily life sounds quite amusing phrased like that :D

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I could live with things being a little less amusing sometimes! :)

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2009-05-15 08:41 am (UTC)(link)
I can understand that

[identity profile] cold-ember-32.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 06:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow. That sounds... epic.

It was spread out throughout the afternoon and evening. But it's days like that where you start to wonder about boarding school....

Hee! As a mom, I've been there, done that. The "surprise" was a handful of grubs and it was French Silk Pie instead of salad dressing. Also, white frosting on the black dog instead of shorts on the cat's head. It never gets old, and yes, you will look back on this one day and laugh, really you will.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
the surprise was a weird flying bug thing. The salad dressing was later. *sighs* Kids.

[identity profile] stackcats.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 07:16 pm (UTC)(link)
XD

What had the kid brought in from outside?

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
it was some sort of flying bug thing. That nearly escaped. *sighs*

[identity profile] pointytilly.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 07:21 pm (UTC)(link)
When I was a little kid I apparently tried to carry around worms in my pockets. My mom had to explain they were happier in the dirt, and when little kid me was upset by this, made me a few worms out of felt that could be happily played with...

I never tried to bring in anything "surprise!" with unpleasant teeth/pincers, though.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Worms aren't that bad, but I'd have to think that maybe, just maybe, they would like the dirt a bit better.

I'm assuming some sort of reptile or amphibian? Brought in from outside, I mean. I took a rat away from the dogs and brought it in when I was five. My poor dad. *g*

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
A flying green bug thing. *sighs*

[identity profile] nakeisha.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm, that's a lot to learn in one day *g*

I trust the green flying thingy flew off outside?

Poor kitty.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
We got it out on the porch (it's a screened, enclosed porch) and opened up the screen door and shut the door to the house. It wasn't there in the morning, so here's hoping it made it's break for freedom.

The cat was NOT amused.

I was smiling pretty much from the get go and then I got to
Oddly enough, the cat does not like to wear shorts on his head and burst out laughing. The dog is now giving me funny looks.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
That dog isn't to be trusted. He's obviously plotting against you

[identity profile] amythest-n-ice.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, you certainly can't claim you were bored, lol.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-05-14 11:44 pm (UTC)(link)
*hee* no, definitely not bored!

:blinks: That's random, yet oh so informative ;-)

Mayonnaise does not come off ceilings. Ever. You're left with a big, oily stain.

And JELLO is a bit reluctant to do so.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-05-16 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* it sounds like you speak from experience here!

[identity profile] mad-jaks.livejournal.com 2009-05-16 01:24 pm (UTC)(link)
(salad dressing) does not come off ceilings easily.

It doesn't - it's the fat content/oil/whatever. It's like milk - you can get it off the soft furnishings but years later you will still be able to see where it splashed on the paintwork :(

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2009-05-16 02:19 pm (UTC)(link)
was it you or the kids you taught you that lesson?
