Crap

Southland's been canceled. It's unlikely any of this season's episodes will air.

NBC is *so* stupid.

Good ratings? Good ratings... I think I've heard tell of those....

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-10-16 10:59 pm (UTC)(link)
They were far more common during the period we like to call "back in the day".

Back in the day when the shows were good... when the plots were understandable and the actors cute...

I have the sudden urge to go tell some kids to get off my lawn...

I've seen some icons with that. It really is the perfect sentiment

Or, better yet, "get off the TV, you damn NBC executives!"

They're trying, they're trying. NBC is currently in 4th place

I'd cheer, but I feel bad for all the shows that are currently stuck there.

The "Leno Effect" is terrible for them. Many shows are seeing their ratings drop like mad. L&O:SVU went from being in the top 10 to losing 40% of it's audience to come out in 42nd place

They should write a book: "How to destroy a TV network with just one show".

one show on 5 nights a week.. but yeah. Although their production costs are down!

[identity profile] the-dark-side.livejournal.com 2009-10-17 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
In a key primetime slot! It's probably a good thing production costs are down, because I doubt the advertisers are lining up, right now.

It is one of those things I wonder about. Their avg age of viewer has gone up 2 years and is in the mid-40s if I remember (ideal is 18-35) and number are down.

So if it costs half as much to make you're saving $$ in the short run, but aren't you losing ad money? And will continue to lose it as the numbers drop further?
