Not if she uses a slice of bread to mop them up with - then she'll only be finding the really stray ones that ended up half under *insert large kitchen appliance here*

Go to where you suspect there are some shards. Arm yourself with one (or more) slices of bread - if no one in your house eats the crust use those. Dab/wipe at the floor with them, they'll pick up all the tiny slivers really well.

We still have decent laps then. And if we were just about to get up to refil our empty coffee cups when they decide to take advantage of our laps, that much the better!
