bigbang go boom

Jack?  Please shut up.  You're supposed to be in a tale of intrigue and aliens, not having tea with a giggling four year old.  Remember the mystery?  The reason this whole stupid story is being written in the first place?  Do you think you can address that part sometime this century?

Plot=hard.  Tea and crumpets=fun.  *sigh*

can't hurt. serves me right for not plotting this sucker out before writing it, but that sort of writing never works for me. I just have a general idea of where its going and let the characters take me there.

I guess since bigbang is 20,000 words a little random babble here and there isn't the worst thing, but still... *sigh*

I never plot things out, either. My characters all pout and refuse to cooperate when I set them limits.

No, I don't think the random babble is bad. Besides, if it's fun... Uhm. Anyway. Cute icon ♥

Sadly, I have more Diefenbaker ones than Jack. OMG, your icon is funny!

So, I'm not the only one that doesn't plot it out? *phew*

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Well... That. You should maybe change that *nods* I love that icon. I wish I could come up with ideas like that :D

Nope, definitely not. I tried plotting once or twice, but when I do, I lose interest in the fic much quicker and it's not as much fun and... so on.

I'm going to add more Jack ones, once it's safe to go looking for them again (after S2 has started)

I agree- if you have vague, general plot ideas=fun, but detailed plot points=boring

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
More Jack icons are always a good thing, no matter at what time :D But I can understand if you don't want to look at the moment.

Yeah. Exactly my point.

I think that's why crack!fic appeals to me so much, and writing drabbles. No plot neccessary

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I like emotional plot... If you can call that plot. Emotional developement. Whatever. That stuff with emotions. I'm not very good with actual, proper plot.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
but emotional development is good too, and plotworthy (which I'm not sure is a word, but oh well)

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
emotional development is fun. and i like playing with the characters and see how they work in an AU setting or when faced with something unusual (e.g. mpreg) and that sort of thing

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 08:11 pm (UTC)(link)
something unusual... like alien donuts? *g*

[identity profile] chatona.livejournal.com 2008-01-14 08:14 pm (UTC)(link)
.... *giggles*

uhm. i... don't know? maybe? *ponders*

I don't plot anything out usually either. I wrote a quick plotline out for 'The Mystery We Are' that consisted of something like "OFC immie is in cardiff, whups k'immie, quickening ensues, torchwood investigates, story happens. OFC introduces Methos to Jack, m/m smut eventually happens." I got 50,000 plus words out of that! Am kind of wishing I'd put my name in for the bigbang now, but at the time I didn't think I could manage another long fic.

[identity profile] donutsweeper.livejournal.com 2008-01-15 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
story happens LOL!!!

I guess I have a vaguely similar outline, I introduced an OFC in an earlier story and basically this story's outline is: Jack gets call OFC is in trouble, flies to NY to help, involved mystery of lake (haunted lake near where I grew up) with aliens somehow and saves OFC somehow

even pro writers have random babble in their drafts.

Random babbles are fun! :)
